OK, I'm just guessing but was the battery cable the last thing connected before an eng. start was tried? In other words, could one of the sensor connectors have been hooked togeather after battery power was applied to the PCM? I'm thinking the PCM is 'confused'???

Did you do the Bigger fuel pump kit from Sal ?? When i did that it blew the fuse, in the under the hood fuse box, for the fuel pumps. I got stuck with the truck because after i was crusing and then did a WOT blast and got stuck. Because it used up whatever was left in the lines. Then i was left on the side of the road and truck wouldnt start. Just an idea to check the fuse i had to put in a bigger fuse then i was fine. Also maybe the battery went to ***** from sitting for over 7 months. How are the headlights and other lights when you turn the truck on dim? Was the Battery charged? If not maybe it doesnt have enough juice to run everything and thats why the truck is dying just something else to think about.

see if the button popped up?

hook the power end up directly to a switch from the battery the switch will control the fuel pump instead of the computer or other parts of the engine. A good friend of mine had to do this to his beat up old truck,,, I beleive they call it jerry rigging,, or something. This would be a way to verify if its the fuel pump or not. Just make sure you get the connections right so it wont pump backwards.

I'm sure I didn't explain that right, but there is a very easy way to check and make sure its the fuel pump by jerry rigging a switch to it and seeing if your truck still runs while the pump is switched on.
