I will be installing the E-Fan along with Cobra R water pump. How much coolant will I need to refill the radiator after the water pump is replaced?

Hi Cliff, I was told not to reuse the lod coolant that was removed. Do you have any idea of the amount to refill it?

If you drain the whole system you will need 2 gallons of antifreeze and 2 gallons of distilled water. I just flushed and refilled mine today and thats what I used.

You may have 1/4 gallon left over.

I went to the Ford Dealer and got 2 gallons of the Ford Premium Coolant.

Thank you Don. Do you need to drain the whole system when replacing the water pump? Do you pre mix the antifreeze before putting it in the system, or just first put in the 2 gallons of antifreeze and then add the distilled water?

You don't have to drain it all the way, but make sure you have a big pan under the water pump. I am sure a bunch of coolant will come out when you remove the stock water pump. It is allways a good idea to pre mix the coolant. That way you know you have a 50/50 mix.

Don, you mentioned in another post that you just had your system flushed. How many miles do you have on your truck? How did you know you needed a flushing? Did you just do it to be safe?

the owner's manual recommends 25.5 quarts of engine coolant. I assume that is if you drain the whole system. When replacing the water pump, the whole system is not drained correct? Do most of you drain the whole thing anyway, or just add the proper mix of coolant and distilled water?
