mounting new relays...

Is there any reason not to use the nice empty relay holes in the stock fuse box (under the hood)

Just mounting my electric water pump and it looked like a no brainer.

My plan

Here's my plan:

There's a pre-wired relay socket (for trailer battery charging) in the under-hood fuse box. I'm going to splice the pump ground into the fan ground and then run the positive into the fuse box and just put a relay in, poof, all done.

I'm also going to be wiring an in-cab switch to turn on the electric fan, electric water pump and intercooler pump. (along with a built-in radar detector.

Since it appears no one knows/has done it. I will try and document it.

I don't see why you could not use the extra relay holes for your accessories, but what relays would you use?
I had some extra stuff in the under hood fuse box in my 99 and you could not tell it was added.
I went to my dealer and got some "terminal repair" pigtails from the parts department.
If you look at where the fuses go in the fuse box you will see that the empty spots have a blade in them already. It is also already hot (positive from the battery) all you have to do is put a terminal in the other side, add a fuse, and you have power coming out the other side of the fuse.
The terminals were cheap and the factory look was what I was after.
I will include a pic of the pigtails I used to give you an idea of what to look for.

Later,
Marvin
