Need Help Raising My Tips!

My tips are too low. Do any of you know an easy way to raise them. I think there was a post on this awhile back. I couldn't find it.

Also, when I am WOT my boost gauge goes up around 10 psi but then starts falling off even when the rpms keep going up. What will help from dumping boost or is it supposed to do this.

Thanks
John

My tips were hanging a little low from the factory too, but when I had my Magnaflow installed I had the installer bend the new pipes on the muffler outlet to position the tips exactly where I wanted them.

But if you are not planning on installing a new muffler, I am not sure what to do

From the factory i have seen it all. Tips that fit good and tips that didn't. There is alot of variables. If the tips are angled down, you can loosen the passenger side cat converter pipe and adjust it. That will twist the tips up level. If the whole system is sagging down, you can remove it and reinstall it. There is alot of play at the connection from the cat pipes to the inlets of the muffler.

What I've read, is you can put a jack underneath, jack the exhaust up, and bend the clamps. You would probably need heat (oxy/acetyline torch) to bend the clamp. Otherwise, there's not much else you can do...

As far as the boost dump, it could just be the inaccuracy of the stock gauge. Try unplugging the boost solonoid (there have been numerous posts on how to do this, do a search, and you should find something.), and if it still drops, it's due to the crap factory gauge.

Good luck!

No - As a matter of fact, quite a few people have opted to do that, instead of getting the boost bypass mod. I don't think I've heard of anyone having any problems, either. Some people have had them unplugged upwards of 20k miles, probably more, with no problem at all.

Exhaust tip remedy

Here's how I got my exhaust tips raised over an inch. I took off the hanger, put it in a vise and drilled a new hole in the hanger between the original hole and the edge of the plate. Then, I bent the hanger a little with a pipe wrench.

The stock tips now hang where they are supposed to be. Have been driving like this for over a month with no melted plastic. By the way, while I was at it, I loosened the bed and re-adjusted it on the frame to minimize the gap to the cab. A Saturday morning well spent.

If they are under warrenty have the dealer do it. I had mine repleced due to pitting. It took a air hammer to knock them off.
