Power of stock stereo?

I just bought a couple pair of Blaupunkt speakers to liven up the sound from the stock paper speakers. But I was wondering how many watts of screaming power the stock stereo head unit is pumping out? I bought the Blau's because they had a great sensitivity of 94db so they will take advantage of the lower power stock unit, but was just curious. Thanks!

wow, a whole 7 watts per channel? that sucks.

On a related note, is there any aftermarket stereos that can work with the 6 disc changer?

Actually, alot of them. Check out http://www.scosche.com, they make an adapter for just about every kind of aftermarket head unit, to adapt to just about every kind of OEM changer.

If you just want a little more power for your new speakers, just add an amp. I kind of like the look of the factory HU

According to the 2000 resource guide - up to 80 watts (for the 6-CD changer model):

• 12 watts

feature finds and stops exactly at the location of
next listenable station up or down the
frequency band

The only CD changer harnesses I saw were for attaching an aftermarket changer to the stock head unit, not the other way around. But I could have missed it. Anyone else find a harness to connect the stock changer to an aftermarket head unit?

Stock System

The stock system in the Lightning sounds like thrash. I rented a low end Hyundai that puts it to shame. I like the look of the stock deck and I don't want to rip out the whole system. Could it be that the problem is those el-cheapo cardboard speakers. If we have 80 Watts, is it possible that upgrading of speakers can make a big difference? Has anybody done this?

model number

Jeff,

Just wondering what model number were those Blaupunkt speakers. A friend of mine said these were the best replacement for the money hands down.

Thanks,
