JL Ram Air and AirBox

Does anyone have the new JL Ram Air and AirBox ? I am thinking about getting one, just wanted to see if anyone else has any comments about it. Looks like a good deal at $279 thanks

Been running one for a month and have had all versions of JL's Ram Air.

Not having to trim the fender liner is a bonus.

Easy install.

the outerwears pre-filter is highly recommended, irregardless of the Intake kit you choose.

Question

I know this question has come up, but I must ask.

How much additional blower whine does one get by using an open filter such as the JL? Is it so loud that it makes it's way into the cabin with the windows up? I love my true blue, but I don't want it to sound like an ambulance when I hit it hard.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Question open filter

2002 True Blue

Im running an open filter on my Lightning and I love the blower whine, its only loud when you get on it hard. I don`t have a ram air set up yet but will be getting one when funds allow.

were in the bay area do you live ?, I live in El Sobrante ( next to Richmond ) if you want to hear what an open filter sounds like let me know and maybe we can get together and i will take you for a ride in my truck.

Larry.

Don't get any of them if the above quote is a real problem for you......... Any of the filter kits will allow a 'scream' of rapidly moving air as you apply more throttle. You will hear it even before getting to WOT. Just don't do it---your neighbors will grab up their children and run for safety as dogs and cats cower in fear while squirrels in nearby trees will imediately suffer from diarrhea--just don't get one .

Angry

No kidding, I have been trying to order one for a week. The web site won't take a credit card, they have been gone racing for a few days and the day they get back the phone is busy! Unfortunately patience is not one of my strong suits. Hopefully they will get the phone fixed soon. Not really a complaint just venting!

Does anyone have any kinda dyno numbers on these things? Or just an open air filter in general? Thanks

Not that it's related to this thread but I was just thinking of the noise that a conical filter makes.

When I first got my '95 F-150 I put a K&N filter charger on it which consists of a 10 or 12 inch conical filter. It looks similar to the ones that the L vendors are selling.

The best part about this filter is that when I punch it the truck sounds like it has a four barrel on it. The stock setup was pretty quiet on these 5Liter EFI motors. But it still sounds cool to this day.

Speed dial is your best friend when calling JL, keep hitting it. Always seems to work for me

Funny how no one can bring data showing any improvement over the stock airbox on a stock engine. Anyone?
