Thumbs up

IMHO - Retrax is the best looking retractable hard cover on the market today. I have purchased two, and been extremely satisfied with both of them. Quality is top notch, as is durability. When I totalled my '00, the cover went sliding across the pavement after it popped out of the rails. Several onlookers and emergency workers commented on the cover and how it held up. I liked it so much that I ordered on for my '02 before I even took delivery of the truck!

Here is a pic of the one on my '02:

Here is the website for Retrax, as well as their competitors:
Retrax
Pace-Edwards
Roll-N-Lock

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I too love the Retrax cover. I swear I get almost as many compliments on the cover as I do on the rest of the truck. I got two just today.

The plusses are appearance and installation (no permanent modifications required!). The only minus is that it's not waterproof.

Another happy camper here. On about 10-12 occasions I've seen people start to go by, and then slow back down and pace me at about mid-truck. Each time when I get my mirror adjusted to see what's going on (because they're there for a minute or two) I find someone writing down the 800# off the top edge of the cover.

Customer service is great also. See this short thread:

But... The website says:

"Weather tight protection for your valuable cargo combined with easy access offers peace of mind and convenience like no other bed cover."

"When driving a pickup equipped with a bed cover a vacuum is created inside the box. This vacuum will pull dust and snow into the box through the gap around the tailgate rapidly covering anything inside inside the box. The Gate Gasket™ installs in minutes with a high-performance 3M® double-faced foam tape to seal your tailgate so you can enjoy a clean, dry pickup box. The Gate Gasket™ is available separately from the RETRAX™ and compliments any bed cover."

Website marketing aside, I can attest that there's a small amount of water inside the bed after it rains or I wash the truck.

OK - here is the scoop on why MY Retrax allows a minimal amount of water into the bed. I chose not to seal the stake hole pockets, because I may occasionally need to use them as tie down points. On my rig, that is where the water is getting into the bed. How do I know this, you ask? I laid down in the bed with a flashlight and had someone close the cover and douse it down with a water hose. So - if I sealed the holes that I chose to leave open, I have no doubt that it would be watertight.

As far as the weight goes - I am guessing 50lbs. While it was bulky, I was able to lift the canister by myself.

ReTrax may be nice, but

I like my Roll 'n Lock looks better. Main cover is tonneau-like fabric with "pebbled grain" like regular tonneau. Vinylex by Lexol shines iu p real nice, too! FWIW mine is waterproof! Has 2 drain tubes to clear any water that might get into "cannister" so it doesn't get into bed.
