also man,, there is nothing like the blower whine and bassani setup I've heard before,, its the biggest head turner you could think of. I have a very high opinion of my truck,, only problem is in the motor city I have to drive her in winter,, not so good to do really. I've suffered some damage do to it that I regret not buying a beater car for winter for. ie,,,, foglight damage,,, horrible roads sometimes scrape my ground effects,,, and the clunk,, which there is an easy fix for,, however more annoying it may be. Bottom line is I love my truck though. and trust me,, test drive an L before you make an decisions whatsoever,, and when you test drive it,,, beat it up just how you would love to,,, you should be hooked.

also,, insurance is cheap compared to cobra or SS ,,, at least for me it was $100 a month cheaper.

Whitetoast, thanks for the input.

I've been trying to get a test drive for 3 days. No dealerships will let the new ones be test driven until they have your credit, the deal and basically a commitment to buy "today". I says "Well, how am I supposed to decide I want a truck I haven't even driven...". The salesman always sympothise, but the managers always decline the testdrive..

Yea, Im assuming you are right on my reaction when I do get to drive one. I'll love the whine and 'probably' be impressed with the acceleration (Ive been in some fast car and am a hard sell). But, i STILL would like to hear some opinions on the handling and brakes aswell as the power and satisfaction.

I tell ya, if I DO find someone looking to trade a 01 L for my truck (and they live within a reasonable distance ), I'm sure a deal could be made. The more I read about them, the more I can see myself in one!

Thanks for the read...looking forward to more.

DS

What year/mileage is your L? '01/ 1,100 miles

What problems have you had with your L? none

Any mods?..if so have they caused any issues for you? Not many mods, mostly cosmetic. The only performance mod has been a throttle body.

Do you wish you had more interior space (S-cab) ? Doesn't bother me.

How happy/satisfied are you with your truck today? 100%

How would you rate the cornering/brakes of your truck? Cornering = awesome, brakes = good, I guess, I haven't maxed them out.

I sold an extended cab '97 F-150 4x4 to buy this truck. I miss the taller, bigger truck, but the L is so much more fun. If I had to pick, I'd always pick the L, I only wish I could have them both

Topsy,

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like you were in the same boat as I. I was up LATE last night surfing for pics of L's...so I think I have an addiction. I need to find a dealer or owner in San Diego that will let me test drive one..or atleast give me a spirited ride

I've read a few places that the brakes are 'marginal' on a stock L..and in need of upgrade on modded L's. Any one have any experience with this?

How do the trucks respond to suspension upgrades and which are best? I havent found any comments on this yet. I'd most definately be building mine for all around performance.

I'm all ears people and welcome any comments pertaining to my dilemma

I thought L owners would be more apt to speak highly of their beloved trucks. interesting
