black or silver?

For those of you who have had your black Lightning for a year or longer can u tell me the problems youve had with it such as paint fade or oxzidation or whatever ? Because theres only one silver L left in south fla and im still thinking wether to get a black L or a silver one. Im leaning towards the black because it looks awsome when its clean but not dirty so i dunno what to do?

Well I`ve owned a red, black and currently a silver. If you like to wash your ride say twice a week then black is ok. Be sure you use High quality 100% cotton towels for washing it. Don`t let the dealer wash it.....ever. My black one looked great when it was new...about 50000 miles and every lil pit or chip showed up...
Black looks great..I especially liked that the steps and mirrors and rear bumper trim blended in . With the others it stands out so much. Use Zano and lots of coats....red looked cleaner longer....
Now silver is the best as far as showing dirt. It looks better than any of the others in my opinion when it is dirty...I have 38000 on My silver one and it looks so much better at this point than the black one did. My SHO is silver and the paint on it looks like new...it's a 95. On my black 99 I think they used a white primer...and it highlighted every chip and pit. Black looks nasty even after a little lite rain...and swirls show if you use cheap towels. It helps to have a carport or garage.

If you're nuts about driving a clean vehicle, DO NOT buy a black one. You're right about them looking awesome when they're clean. But they look like total crap when they're not. And it don't take long to get one dirty. My '96 Impala SS was black and I will NEVER buy another black vehicle. And that's because I AM NUTS ABOUT DRIVING A CLEAN VEHICLE.

Good luck with whichever one you decide on!!

Dan

Cool

I've had my silver '01 for over a year and it still looks new.I wanted a black one first until I was at the dealer and there was a black one sitting next to a silver one. They were both filthy. The silver looked tons better than the black.Black is awesome but in real life silver is the choice.IMHO

My mustang is black, I used to clean it every day...the damn dew in the morning would dirty it up LOL The paints pretty oxidized on it right now because I cleaned it so much I wore most of the clearcoat off.

Black is awesome for the first year but once the novelty is gone your going to hate it.

I personally will never buy a black car again...oh and I just bought a Silver L in S Fla too LOL Hope you werent looking at the one at Ford of North Miami Beach

All my vehicles are black. With black you are either first or worste. No imbetween. I don't mind cleaning my vehicles but if you do then stay away from black. But know this, if you ever find yourself beside a clean black L you may be sorry. Not to mention black Ls are faster than silver ones.

I've had black cars, motorcycles & trucks and while they look fantastic when they're clean, they don't seem to stay that way very long. Silver on the other hand appears clean even when it's dirty.
I left a deposit on an '03 L a few months ago and really wanted the silver. I was disappointed when Ford said they wouldn't offer silver on '03 L's, but were substituting dark charcoal grey in its place. I've seen the grey on the Harley F150 and while it won't stay "clean" as long as the silver, it's light enough to stay cleaner, longer than black.
I'm not knocking the guys with black L's, they look the best when they're clean. I'm just too fanatical and make myself crazy trying to keep a black vehicle clean.

Silver even looks clean when it's covered in tree sap.
