It's a truck... A very, very fast truck! I almost bought a Camaro SS. I got the Lightning instead. I have never regretted my decision!!

It is more practicle. I use to have a 6sp. 98 camaro. With the lightning you can tow and haul things, whre with the Camaro you are really limited. You will also have more exclusivity. I get a lot more attention with this truck than I ever did with the Camaro.
The Lightning has also been more reliable. With the Camaro I had to deal with a weak rear end, warped rotors, syncros going bad, and the list goes on. Lastly the Lightning responds much easier to mods than the Camaro. With about $1200 spent on performance mods for a lightning, you can add anywhere between 65 75 RWHP!! A camaro can be made to go really fast too, but then you have to think about new intakes, heads, cams ETC.. All that takes a lot more money. With about $1200 i have spent on my Lightning I smoked my 98 z28 from a stop light. My Z had a borla exhasut, whisper lid w K&N, hurst, and ram air mod. You will notice a drastic loss in performance after 100MPH because of the aerodynamics. Hope this helps.

Later

If you just want something fast, stick with the SS... stock for stock, and mod for mod, it will always be faster.
But if you like the idea of having something big, that can haul and tow, and still smoke almost anything beside you, then the L is for you...
If you don't mind averaging around 12 mpg.

I just have to add this... I have never driven an automatic transmission vehicle that could match the "L" for fun...

I posted an earlier message stating that I only have 15-16 grand to spend, I want a 99 L, and I also want to keep my SS, 15-16 is all I can afford without selling the SS, Anyone know if this is a possibility for a 99L price?

Have you driven one yet? You probably wouldn't ask this question if you had. I was a die-hard chevy man forever, I thought. Then I saw the Light-ning!

Drive one and you'll buy it.

Ten bags of mulch in the bed, towing a motorcycle & trailer, and still faster than an Eclipse:

Think of it this way its a 5000 pound vehicle that can compete with ss, vettes, mustangs, cobras you name it. So which vehicle is really the stuff. And who really has the technology.
