I personaly dont have an L but my dad does and I can say that you definatly get more attention in the L than the SS. You are probley scratching your head, my friend has an SS with borla exhaust and chip and it doesn't get near as much attention when we ride in it as when we ride in the L. Sometimes you get embarased when people sit and stare at an entersection. If you really want peoples attention though, drive a FL-60 to eat. Anyway, getting back on topic, the L is awesome, the sound, feel, and power is just amazing. I have never been in a automatic that will scratch 2nd gear. Oh yea, it helped me move my stuff into college, what SS can do that well. personally, I will buy an L, Cobra, or H2 over the SS. But remember the most important thing, this is just my opinion, and you opinion not mine or others is the most important.

Oh yea, go take an L for a test drive.

 

If you took one for a test drive and you hear the whine of the SC you will get hooked, thats what happened to me.

 

the advantage the Lightning has over the LS1 Fbod is,,,, you can buy a new 2003 Lightning

I own the Lightning, I also own a 94GT convertible putting out 483hp to rear wheels....I much prefer to drive the lightning...I wont get into a pissing contest but I will say this much, when we come to a stop the ladies are going to be looking at the Lightning NOT the camaro

 

You've got to be kidding me. Around here (Detroit area) there are 20 SS sightings per Lightning. I am being serious.

Maybe that's why everyone rubberneck's at "us" lucky ones

I dont know what your smoking but there are a TON of SS out there I see at least 4-5 a day whereas im lucky to see another lightning in 4-5 days

 

If you can not part with your ss,then save a couple more grand and wait another year for an L.

I love my L....but there's no way in hell I'd give up my SS for it. Save your money and then you can have your ice cream and cake too!

 

They are making less than 5k of L for '02... assuming that though 99-to-01 is about the same we are looking at maybe 20k of Lightnings.

Even with the crappy sales of the Camaro, I am sure over the last four years there is more than 160k Camaro's on the road, a ton of those being SS's.

So how there is as many L's as SS's where you are I have no idea. I see tons of SS's on the road every day, and I see a a Lightning maybe twice a week-- which is always near my house and always red.... so I bet they live near me and is why I see it taht often.

When it came down to it,, I live close to 2 high schools,,,, i'm done totally with school (even though I never stop learning) but every single day I see SS's parked in those lots. My favorite pizza place delivers to my house with some hs kid in his SS,,, My old girl drives an SS (cool cause its a girl) Not that I wasn't tempted to buy one,,(I'd love the T tops or a Vert hands down) But when it came to it,,,, I've never owned anything other then a truck, and although I see many other trucks that are all modded up apearance wize,,, none can touch mine,, and every single one of them has got to feel the L is king. Thats what I like the best,,,not many f150's out there that you can mistake for an L. Lots of camaros and mustangs out there that you can mistake for any one of them with a few mods. Of course I'll give you there that its cause of the big difference of a blower over other trucks,,, just too much money for people to spend to look run like another truck.

Stick with your camaro. It is faster than a Lightning and probably won't rattle or break as much.

 

99 Camaro SS

I used to be a chevy/GM guy myself, actaully I still am. But trust me once you test drive the Lightning, you will want one. Just like everyone else here that switched over, I too couldn't help but have to have it the minute I drove it off the show room floor from the dealer. The truck is F'ing awsome, and the whine of the supercharger is like nothing else when you are flooring it. Trust me, what everyone says about the women digging the truck is SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO true, I can't tell you how many times women will call out to you while you are driving it, or come up to you and want to talk about it, it's too bad for them I have a girlfriend though, or I would be in heaven
