HELP!!! Engine trouble!!!

Engine is shuttering badly while idling. Bad shutter around 1200-1800 rpm's. Feels like it's about to stall any second while driving. Started the other night while driving home from work. Went through everything i could think of today. I put everything back stock except the electric fan and water pump. No way i'm tearing into that again. Took out the chip, put everything oem and still does it. Reset the computer no change. No engine lights no codes stored. Looks like my truck is going to the dealer rather than ford fun weekend. I'm so depressed

Now, if there was an engine misfire or a coil pack gone, would that trigger a code.

Do you think there will be any warrenty hassel with the electric fan and water pump?

Check your plugs. A fellow lightning owner here in Memphis went through a shuttering problem and found a plug that was fried. Do this ASAP.

I had a rough idle that shuddered once in a great while.

Found out that oil was built up around the butterlies of the throttle body not allowing them to close completely. This was with only 2300 miles on the truck!!! Took the throttle body off, when I had the upper ported, and cleaned it with a wire wheel on my dremel tool. That crap did not want to come off!!!!

Truck idles like stock again, even with 4#pulley, chip and DensoIT22's.

Take a look behind the butterflies of your throttle body!!

Hope this helps,
Jason

If you still have the stock plugs we can swap them out with some TR6's I got a spare set.

I bet that is the problem

Nope, screw him, LOL

He is on his own. J/K

It was just to damn hot out, and he had to get to work.

Plus I have work to do on my truck.

This was the 2nd Lightning that I fixed this week, and still haven't touched mine.

Yes!!!!!

I'm back in buisness!!! Pulled the wires off the coil packs one by one this morning. Found the number 8 cylinder made no difference when pulling the wires. No ford dealers had them in stock so i got one from napa-$49.00. It is exactly the same as stock.

Don C came over and gave me a hand. We are back. I think i'm gonna throw a whole new set on anyhow just in case. I've said it before and i'll say it again. Don (Don's Bolt) is a top shelf guys a we're lucky to have him in our community. He's helped me out on several occasions!!! Thanks again bud. I owe you.

**** NOTE-when attempting to remove plugs, make sure to lube the rubber insert in the plug socket so they don't get stuck. Don't attempt to use magnetic reatch magnets to remove extensions and sockets. The magnet is stronger than the adhesive and the magnets come off and get stuck between the head and the plug socket. Bad news. But we got it out.!!!

hey hey hey

we were in the shade and i had my fan out there so it was only like 98 instead of 105....hehehehe

Don't forget i let you use my grinder to customize your wrench and pry bars to bend up your fire wall. By the way, Don isn't into appearance mods unless you like scratch and pry marks all over a brand new blower!!!!

Just a thought - the T/B butterfly has a coating on it from the factory. I have no idea what it is or what purpose it serves. Now that you've removed it, you might inquire has to purpose.

This wasnt a coating. It was on the throttle body bore and a little on the butterflies. It was almost like soot that built up behind the butterflies. It was thicker in some spots than others and was a PITA to get off.
