I'm with RT on this one. Those 10 pounders have got to be putting the Eaton through some major changes. I also believe all Lightnings are NOT the same Performance wise. Some have a Mod list a mile long and haven't ran a 12 yet, while others can take a 100% stock 02 and run a 13.6 all day with F-1's.
I happen to go by the "seat of the pants meter" and truly believe I'm a 12 sec member now. I also believe I couldn't have done it without Bubba and his newest program. Thanks JP
The question is, are the 10 pounders really making better et's ???
Like another L owner just said, the 2-3 Upper is all I need. I felt a major difference with that, and now this week adding the newest BFB program just made it all come together and pull like a Mo Fo right into a 5500-5600 RPM shift . I now have 13-15 lb's of Boost and never touched a bottom Pulley "OR SPARK PLUG"

Spreadsheet

I don't know who to credit for it, but there's a blowerRPM spreadsheet out there...

If you look at the HP gained figures, anything above a 4# pulley is essentially useless. Don't look at the Tq gained column because it doesn't take into account blower drag (but HP does)

Now bigger pulley will get you to max HP quicker, but I don't think our trucks really need much of that...

I would just like to see what a truck would make power wise going from a 2lb to a 10lb pulley.

Do a stock truck and then do a heavily modified truck with extra cooling abilities.

bummer :(

Going from a 2lb to a 10lb pulley results in an increase of roughly 15hp.

Now granted, bottom end hp/torque will increase more than that, but your max isn't helped much. (a 4lb pulley gets you 10hp over a 2lb)

My 00L was running 12's with no pulleys or juice two years ago so i guess we really have not advanced very far...and my truck was one of many that ran 12's with no pulleys.
For those of us that want to be quicker than high 12's you either use lower pulleys, nitrous or both or wait for an aftermarket blower.....some of us opt to use all of the above

Thumbs up

for you who doubt the lower pullies, JL has tested each of these pullies on his truck and posted times using the stock eaton blower. he ran a 12.0 with an #2 and a#8 lower. he then ran an 11.80 with a #2 and a #10 lower with no other mods other than the lower pulley. this proves that we might be overspinning the blower, but it continues to make power with the larger pullies.

more power...

More power yes, but you are hurting the top end perforamance...

You aren't making hardly any extra power (peak) just averaging more. Sounds like the truck he tested it on didn't have a torque converter... (just guessing)

Thanks IB Fast,

You just proved my Theory correct. I don't know what Mod's you had, but for no juice, and no pulley, entering the 12's is DAM GOOD.

I run a 10lb lower and 1.5lb upper and I feel a definite increase in power at the bottom of the track. I am ran a 12.0 with temps over 100 at the track. When I ice my PowerCooler down I gain at least 2 tenths consistantly. For the limited amount of time the Eaton is spinning at max rpm, I think it's fine. Yes, you do lose efficiency. However, there is a power gain. 11's in the heat w/ a stock blower was unheard of before these larger pulleys were installed.
