X plan versus A plan

Maybe I should post this in the general topic forum, but I would like to hear from some of you Lightning folks on this.

Here goes, I have a service manager that works for me that has a brother who owns a Lincoln Mercury dealership in houston. It is one of the biggest down there so he carries a bit of clout.

He has put me in contact with a Ford dealer that is beholding to him and willing to get me a darned good price on any ford I need.

I am not familiar with the X-plan program. I am familiar with the A plan program and was under the impression that it was for Ford employees and their families only.

Questions...Do you think that the best deal is X-plan(what is it)?

Is the A plan a better deal? I might be able to use some creative buying to get the A plan price.

Are the dealers allowed to sell Lightnings on these 2 plans?

Thanks for any info ya'll can give.

I just purchased mine on X-plan. '02 L. A-plan is a bit cheaper, with X-plan being invoice + 4-5 % one of the two #'s.

Loving every minute of the L

I bought my truck on the D-plan which is the same as the A plan but I can only buy 2 cars per year where the a-plan people can buy 4. x-plan is for people not working for ford but has ties to them. x-plan is a-plan + 4% I bought my 2002 for 27,814 on d-plan (same as A plan) I am in houston also and am curious to which dealer is willing to sell it at x-plan? There are a few L's on the lot of the dealer I work at.

I forgot to mention the rules.... when you buy on these plans you have to have a PIN # through ford to buy.... the person that buys it has to have the truck in their name, or at least on the title with a lein holder for at least 6 months....

I hope the one I have bought a couple of our company Vans through. I have not ask him yet. I wanted to make sure I wasn't out of line asking him to do this.

I was actually thinking about asking him to let me have it for dealer invoice.
He sold me two E250 vans for less than dealer invoice after you figured in the rebates they had on them. But E250 aren't lightning...LOL.

So if I understand this correctly...X plan is still below dealer invoice?

Sounds like pulling my A plan scam won't work...unless I want the truck in my employees name for 6 months.

I am after a 2003...haven't decided on color. I am leaning towards black.

Thanks for all the great input. It has helped me to keep from looking like a nut when I call this guy.
