The srt ram has been talked about very much lately. Alot of people are very touchy about it. Everyone puts it down even though it's bad ***. IMO you'll hardly ever see it on the street. About as much as you see the viper. In 04' dodge will be release the dakota r/t that will have the 5.7l hemi motor with 340 hp. The new dakota will be slightly bigger than it is now with the look of the ram. Not sure if it will be able to get the power down.

I don't think it was humiliating. Rather, I thought it was funny, got a good laugh and so did a bunch of other folks.

BTW, don't worry about asking questions, especially "does anyone have photos of their X/X drop?"

I agree but i doubt thats going to make a difference in the 1/4. Now back to the "they have the stick in the cobra" tranny comparison: The cobra sure is a lot lighter than an L, who knows if it (the 6 speed)would hold up launching all that extra weight. I also agree with the long stick v/s speed shifting problems. It better be a well manufactured shift linkage.Has anyone heard of a production number for the v-10??

First off in the last post that was made by MRBBQMAN about the SRT-10 here https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...threadid=85167 it shows spy shots of the Dodge. Which didnt look to bad at the show but those new pics are fugly even if it is a test truck. Second Dodge responded to those pics saying:

someone on the Mopar list posted this in response to that pic/article:

First off, We have not begun to build ANY SRT -10 Rams yet. Corporate has not even decided which plant they will use when they get ready to build them. Latest info is it could be Warren Truck plant or St.Louis North. Both plants have the capability to do it. Secondly there has been NO decision on the price or total content of this vehicle, some want to offer it only as a completely loaded unit while some of us are sticking to a more modest level of equipment for price purposes. At any rate do not expect this truck before next May or June at the earliest. Also keep your eyes open for an R/T version of the Ram 1500 with the Hemi, it will be a real affordable alternative
So there you go they dont even know how its coming out yet. And im not scared a modded lightning can take that thing thats if they even build it. And from the prices i have seen like 50 grand+ ,being made in limited numbers, using all those light alloys to cut weight down, and that the Viper guys will get first shot makes me think none of use will be seeing these things on the road. It will be like the cobra R their will be bidding wars for them.

Now for Ford i really hope they dont make a lightning in 04 and if they do i really doubt its gonna be a new beefed up lightning. 02 was bad enough now they are making them 03 to. They should have stopped in 01 like the Gen 1 with a 3 year run. Thats why i bought the Lightning its different and didnt see alot around. If they make it every year how will that be different. I thought SVT meant being exclusive ?? I think if they do make a Gen 3 Lightning thats gonna be beefed up it wont be out unitl a year or 2 after the body change for the F-150 like they did with the Gen 2's. The body change came in 97 and and then the Gen 2's came out in 99. Well i hope dodge brings out that FUGLY brick and if i do see one on the street and we go and he wins. I will tell him meet me back here when i come back with 20 grand more in mods that he paid extra for his truck over mine.

Heres for Dodge i say bring it.

Oh yeah and heres a pic i made a while ago for all you noobs for all the search police hehe.

No doubt it would be more challenging, I have run both manuals and autos at the track, But that is maybe 3 nights a month for me personally, I would sure have fun shifting gears the countless other miles in between trips to the drag strip, and besides, doesn't it feel good to have a good launch and consistent run with you doing most of the work? Sure for bracket racing maybe an automatic would help you win more, but I would have more fun with a manual and I enjoy the challenge, thats why we are enthusiasts and go to the track in the first place.

The SRT-10 is supposedly going to be significantly lighter than the L. That's about the only way a manual tranny will survive in it. Which still begs the question...how are you going to speed shift something with a two foot long shift lever, and a 1 foot throw between gears?

BBriBro, welcome! Just remember that 9/10s of the BS in here is just for fun...don't take it seriously!

LOL, But if it really is the same tranny as the Viper, then you could just cut the lever down to the same length as the Vipers, you'd have a long reach, but the same throw then.
