Man, that is sweet...

Now, can anyone that wasn't there figure out from that picture how Tampa and Rampage were parked in relation to one another? I am too tired to try to figure it out...

A quality lacquer reducer/thinner, like "Parks" or "Sherwin-Williams" is essential. It will help the paint lay evenly.

Thanks, guys.

I bought mine from a hobby shop but Ebay has them for $14.00

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1754020935

Should work just fine for what we're using them for.

Thumbs up

Nice Job, Rich

For those thinking of doing this, be sure to use a good quality thinner, especially in this summer heat

If you say it's easy to do I may give it a try. I have about 3 rock chips in a cluster on the front of my hood. I was going to hire somebody, but you make it look so easy. Can you explain the sanding part. When you say wetsand, do you just soak the sandpaper in water & rub across the hood? I assume the dry sanding & the wetsanding for that matter uses very little pressure. You just want the paper to so the work?

You're right on the money.

Good thinner is a must for sure.

Be sure to tape around the affected area so you don't scratch when sanding.

Which thinner did you use? Should I just go to an autobody paint shop to locate the thinner?
I am going to do it next weekend.

Rich, got a question for you about mixing. What do you use to measure out the paint & thinner? I'm thinking an eye dropper would work well as there's not a lot of need to mix large amounts for one spot.

Well, make that two questions. I stopped by a paint supply store today and picked up a quart of PPG acrylic laquer thinner. Will that be ok to use?

Thanks,

Bob

Bob:

I usually do mine by filling the smaller bottles and pouring into the larger. Depending on the type of airbrush you use, a 1 to 1 mixture may work for you. Basically, if it clogs, thin it...

I like to mix up enough for a few times.

I know this is a blast from the past, but do you happen to have the pictures on how you did this? I have a nice scrape on my door and I wanted to try and fix it using this method.

I have a few questions:

1)When you filled in the spot, did you use the brush or the air brush with the 1 to 2 part mixture?

2)Did you tape and then re-tape?

3)When you did the final pass 1 to 2 inches from the paint, did you still have the tape on the truck?
