Something's wrong with my truck... help please!

I was doing about 50mph and just cruising and all of a sudden it felt as if I totally lost power, almost as if it had come out of gear. I got no check engine light initially.

When I ease onto the gas it will start to accelerate and then all of a sudden it will bog. It feels as if the more gas I give it, the more the engine struggles.

I believe I've been hearing some detonation, but between the headers and such, I can't really tell. I'm using 92 octane.

Do you guys think it could be fouled plugs or a vacuum line? Also, would the extended service plan cover plugs that are fouled after only 15,000miles of use.

After shutting the truck off and restarting it, I got a check engine light but I don't have any means of knowing what code is being tripped.

Thanks guys.

no pro here so no advice what could be wrong, but my local Auto zones give free computer reads and that could be worth a shot, at least it would tell you what the check light is on for.

Give it a shot, its free hehe

Probably the best thing to do since you still have a warranty is to take it to the dealer. they will cover whatever is wrong with it in this situation. As good as the L's are for performance they seem to have more then enough mechanical problems that happen to very very few people.

I know you might see allot of problems on the net but you have to remember that most of the people on here beat the crap out of there trucks by drag racing them and no matter what type of vehicle it is beating on it is not going to make it last any longer then not beating on it. I'm not saying that your beating on it but who knows what could happen. ( I'm really drunk cause I'm having a party right now but I'm trying to help anyway, HEHEHEHEHEHEHHE.)

I think that if you only have a problem with it at WOT its either got to be your TPS (doubtful casue those rarely go bad) or its somthing with the computer which the deale rcan fix no problem. Take it to them and see what they say?

Sounds like it is starved for GAS ... have you changed the
gas filter?

Also, check the vacuum line that runs at the 90 degree angle up
past the HOT pipe on the drivers side ... If the insulation on that
pipe drops back you are exposed to burning/melting that
vaccuum line.

Something similar happened to me recently. See if the belt clamp came lose allowing the hose to pop away from the MAF. It could be starved for air rather than gas. Tom

Any mods?

Either take it to the dealer, or

change fuel filter
pull and check some plugs
make sure all hoses/vacuum lines aren't bad
make sure MAF is connected
then go to the dealer if that doesn't fix it.

I had the same problem twice on my L. The problem was in the fuel tank. A hose barly came off on one of the fuel pumps. It caused the truck not to get enough gas. The problem is the clamps that hold the hose on to the fuel pump are junk.

If you have chipped the truck check the connection.I had the same problem however it was sporadic. Clean/tighten chip connection. no more problem.

Yep Id bet fuel pump. The Light is lean condition on both banks. Can be checked with a scanner or check fuel pressure.
