A question on aerodynamics at the track...

The first two times at the track I've run with the tonneau on and the tailgate up. Would I gain anything by taking the tonneau off and putting the tailgate down? It seems to me there's probably a vacuum formed at speed behind the tailgate when it's up, but is it enough to really slow me down THAT much? Granted I suppose I could just TRY IT, but I was curious what some of you think and/or have experienced.

You'd do better because of the weight reduction, but I don't really know about losing the cover & tailgate.

You create more drag w/ the tailgate down, period.

Leave the cover on and the tailgate up.
