Question Tranny upgrade ?'s

Next step on the 01 L is the shift kit....what are you guys using?....Ive heard the PSP kit is the best because it replaces the whole valve body and is made of stainless steel instead of aluminum, over the JDM with is just the Line Mod.....any help from those who have either would be nice.....thanks

Thumbs up

I have the Factory Tech Valve body which both PSP and LFP sell, I would recommend this prodcut to anybody, it changes the whole truck. Also while you are under there you should go ahead and opt for the 4x4 tranny pan, holds an extra quart and has a drain plug.

Where do you get and how much are the 4x4 pans. I assume online somewhere, most dealerships will want to grease you up first before selling it to you.

IMO the B&M isn't worth the extra money and I haven't seen anyone who has it.

I have Precisoin Automatic pan which uses 4X4 filter. B&M uses standard filter. Difference is the amount of oil above inlet and road clearance. Deep tit on bottom of pan required to clear 4X4 pick-up is two inches below main pan surface.

Not sure if it is the pan & 160 thermostat or same on all L's, but so far my tranny temp guage has been a waste of money. With 2400 rpm convertor, oil temp has never been above 180 and 120-150 is typical for 80-100 ambient temps. Heat-up to 120-150 is slow.

So you with guages and stock pans, is this this typical or the result of pan?
