Signature Pictures... Please Shrink them
Guys I have noticed a BUNCH of HUGE signature pictures lately.
Some pics are over 60k, if there are 2 or 3 of those pictures in one long thread that slows our board down BIG time. And we lose dial up members when they get frustrated by the speed to look at threads.
Lets keep the poor dial up users in mind and shrink them to less than 250 or 300 pixels in any direction. And Please pic ONE picture. The Billbords size pics of your truck or ads for your tuner are gobbling bandwidth for the dial up users...
I will be happy to shrink the pictures for you and email them to you if you cant or dont know how...
Dont forget to take advantage of JPG compression when shrinking them...
Thanks in advance
Doug

If anyone has any question as to what thier Sig looks like to the average dialup user Ill be happy to try to help.
All- Keep in mind that MANY users have their display set to 640x480 or 800 x 600 which means a picture that is 300x300 fills almost an entire screen.
MANY web standards are based on an entire page being less than 60k to download. In some cases we have single signature pics that are larger than that. So when setting up your signature be mindfull that it is a SMALL part of a larger page that must be downloaded.

25k limit
I think there should be a 25k limit to sig picture. You get sick of the same pics everyday over and over anyhow.
I am a dial up user for the mere fact i have satelite tv, and both the satelite and dsl internet service is far more than i want to spend a month, that money could go toward my truck payment!!!!

It is also 600 pixels wide which means it completely fills the screen of a majority of the members since most home users use low resolutions. Use a small clear, closeup thumbnail from your gallery in your sig and link it to the rest of the pics in your gallery.
To make a picture into a link just use the HTTP:// button and when it asks for text to be displayed use the IMG tags and url to the picture then when it asks for the URL use the URL you want the picture to point to..
In my opinion my sig pic is too big at 36k but it is only there for example sake... Ill remove it in a day or 2...
