If you look inside a computer case there is a sheet of metal with screw holes that coincide with the holes in your mobo,, if you can get a hold of one of thoes metal sheats,, or make one yourself by using a pen to mark where the holes are and drilling yourself thats cool too.

There will need to be some space between this metal sheet and the mobo,, you can get spacer screws from any computer store which will screw into the metal sheat,, these spacer screws will have an opening at the top which other screws attached to the motherboard can fit right in,,, once its all placed together, I'd run a wire from the metal sheet to any good grounding soarce in the truck,,, ie,, srews to the frame,, etc,,,,

That is shielding not grounding. It still may be needed though because computers are very noisy devices and you may have noise picked up through your audio system. Grounding is as simple as connecting a wire to one of the mo-board mounting screw holes or the power supply case and the other end to a ground point in your truck. This however will not cure any noise caused by the PC itself. PC Cases are metal for a reason. Plastic case computers like Apples will have copper foil sheets and metal plates carefully placed to shield noise and meet FCC requirements. Sometimes the inside of a plastic case is actually metallized with a paint or other conductive coating. If you do not have any noise in your audio system I would not worry about it.

Just to put this to rest.

The unit is on a secondary 12V power source and I'm sure it's well grounded. BullDog is quite the electrical master.

You know....

All of the DVD video screens now have a simple video in.
Many laptops have a video out.
Would fit right in the Expy. console.
Plugs into the cigarette lighter.
Wireless keyboard and mouse.

Hmmm... That just might work...

Anybody else smell smoke?

Tampa,, not talking about bulldogs computer, I was just noting the grounding comment twords j15big,,, he is using a plastic case,, not the best idea.

Actually the idea I wrote down is for both shielding and grounding, I probably didn't explain it to well though, its better to talk to someone who can point out things to you in person j15big, its a simple thing to do but it is important, especially when using a plastic case.

bulldog's install looks very very clean, I'd have no doubts all his work is done correctly,,, its not even a question there.

And BFB,,, you'd be suprised over how people play with computers,, i've seen computers mounted in freazers, servers run encased in cardboard boxes, the works, its crazy what people think about doing when they have too much time on their hands, but not enough money to to quite make it work right.

Thats a working idea there, the components in a laptop would already be located in a workable environment, I'd only make sure my expy console was ventilated properly for cooling.
