Question lowered suspension question

My 00 L has been making a very loud 'clicking' noise when i turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left. It's under warranty still so I took it to the dealership to look at and they said it was because the suspension had been lowered. I didn't lower it myself, so it must have been done by the previous owner. There also seems to be excessive wear on the front tires on the inside. Is all this caused by it being lowered? I don't know if I trust the dealership fully as they haven't been too friendly or helpful in the past.

Also since there is a chance there has been some modifications to the truck , how accurate is the stock boost gauge. When I accelerate hard the gauge gets pinned all the way to the top at 10psi. I always thought that this was because the guage wasn't that accurate, but maybe the previous owner up'd the boost?

Thank You

If it was lowered they should have installed a camber kit to adjust the alignment. If not you can pick up a set at any NAPA. If it not aligned, that is what is causing the inner tire wear.

I think that sound you hear when turning the steering the whole way is the clunk. There are 2 people on the boards that sell the "washer" to fix that.

Yup. The stock gauge is worth sh**. Not accurate at all.
Hopes this helps at all.

The clunk is well documented and is Ford's problem. Search for herb's washes or even just clunk

The boost is questionable. Mine went to 10 stock as well. Take a look in your engine compartment. You should see the SC pully. Look where the pulley goes around the crankshaft (below the fan). If the pluuey is "caged" aka is has 3 support beams holding it on to the engine, you're more than likely stock.

Check out that pulley and see if it looks like something Ford would install stock, if its Ford it's steel and ugly, if it's aftermarket, it'll be aluminium and pretty

Grease your steering stops. There is a small pocket on each spindle that the steering stop fits in at full lock. Put a dab of grease on each side and it should stop the noise.

That i guess is the "DREADED CLUNK" thats making the noise. If you have a shop you trust they will be able to fix the clunk if ford won't. I still have the clunk.

You can do a search for DL's clunk washer made from hard steel and zinc coated.

I found that my stock boost gauge shows the same boost the autometer electric boost gauge shows... It could be that both are inaccurate.

All the way to the left and right is not the washer clunk, though you should do that fix anyway.

I've had that clunk since day one on my lightning, it is the steering stops on the wheels. I'm not sure why it does that, and now that I have my truck lowered, I can't get it looked at under warranty.

From what my mechanic and I found, there is a spot on the wheels where the steering stop hits, you should be able to see it because it will be shiney metal from being worn a little... I get it lubricated every time I get the oil changed, and it lasts for a bit quieting it down, but eventually it does it again.

Sounds really nasty when you go up and down a driveway while being fully turned one way or the other...but mine did it both before and after lowering.
