Question Dynomat

I was thinking of doing a stereo install and putting in Dynomat while the interior panels are off. Has anyone installed Dynomat? If so, did you notice a difference in the sound(improvement in stereo sound) and what type of Dynomat did you use?

Thanks.

dynomat

I did dynomat on the door panels and the area around the rear factory speakers. I'm running just upgraded speaker and a factory head end and I think it made a solid improvement in the low end. I was like 70.00 for the door kit and the rear sides and it took me a hour and a half with a blow dryer to put it together. I would recommend it especially if your running amps. Todd

I used Dynamat Xtreme on my doors and noticed a huge difference. I liked it so much that I am going to be doing the floor and back wall this week. I would strongly suggest you try EBay; I got the 36 sqft pack that normally sells retail for $200-$225 for only $99.

Check my gallery

Check my Gallery for install. I would REALLY recommend using b-quiet.

www.b-quiet.com

It is much cheaper than Dynomat and just as effective.

Well worth it in my opinion.

My personal opinion.

It sucks. Ive installed it in TONS of cars and the benifits/cost really aren't that good. It takes a TON of it to make a real differance, because what it does is adds weight. THat changes the resonant frequency of the panel, so that it won't resonate and rattle at most higher frequencys. Sure it makes a little diffearnce but i would do the spray on stuff, like cascade. It fills in the seams and gets between panels that might rattle to gether. Its MUCH easier to apply (assuming you can tape stuff off which is cake), and stays on better. on HOT days the dynamat will come loose, i've prepped panels for half a day and put it on and it comes off, (and yes i apply it with a heat gun and roller)

Soo thats my 2 cents...

Dynamat theory

Changing the resonant frequency is part of it, but the reason Dynamat works is because it actually converts sound into heat.

Regular Dynamat does this at about 20% conversion, Extreme does it about 35%. It is theoretically additive stacking, but I haven't tested that.

Do NOT use regular dynamat. Extreme or a different product will sitck better and is easier to use.

If you want the ultimate sulution, use the dynaplate or b-quiet lite. It is VERY expensive, but VERY effective.

You have read the box too many times,

the MAIN reason it works is it lowers the resonate frequency =) the sound to heat thing is a joke IMO. Yea it might actually do that, but turning 35% of the vibration into heat? no way those sheets would get rather hot.

I still say the best bang for the buck is cascade, because it makes better contact throughout the panel making its weight more effective, and the fact that its kinda rubber, dampens where the plastic panels meet and cause noise.

Ive heard that when installing these kinds of things you have to be careful not to cover up all the holes in the caben. I think when your airbag goes off and you have you windows up the holes let excess presure out of the caben otherwise if there coverd up your eardrums can be permanently damaged causing deafness.
my spelling suxs im doing this fast without looking(atwork)
