NOS Guys....

Tell me about your setups....

Pulley & NOS Hit? Purge Systems? Remote Openers? Bottle Warmers? Gauges?

I have talked with Sal alot on my ideas. I have two local guys that want to get setup now with NOS. I plan on going 4lber & 100 shot until my stock motor dumps, but what are alot of you guys using? I see alot of 2lb/100 shoot and 4lb/75 shot. I would like to print this out and show them, they dont get on here and post alot but they know I do. I even heard someone using like a 6lb/50shot. Just tell me what you all like and dislike about your setups please. How many miles on setup/truck? problems? Keep on mind, stock motors only for now, I know alot of you built motor guys are going nuts with NOS now....

Sorry to step on your thread, ICULOKN, but....

I have a NOS novice question. Why do you keep the bottle warm?

If the temp. of the bottle is to low then the pressure of the gas inside ( NAWWS, HEHEHE ) will be low too and it won't come out of the bottle!!! So warm up the bottle and the pressure comes up too, usually pressure needs to be around 1000psi!!!

Bottle pressure drops very quick (bottle gets very cold) when you spray it.
If the bottle stays warm then less pressure drop and a more even flow of juice therefore easier to 'dial in' or tune your setup.

While spraying a 250shot on my stang I had the bottle ice over before with out the blanket.

My truck is stock.. but I think the NOS nozzle kit is going to be the way to go.. I would have new metal lines made for it from the block to the nozzle though. Most any hydraulic fab shop will make the lines from a drawing fairly cheap. You don't even really need a nice computer drawing just good measurements and hand drawn picture is all most shops need.

If by chance anyone has a AutoCAD drawing of the lines already make up please post it or email it to me.

Thanks,
Johnie

What i recommend doing is getitn a nos bottle and 2 hoses, and put the hoses into your intercooler, and using the nos to keep your engine running like its Winter in July, only adds about 30 HP's but very effective

CHIKIN1 is also correct, but if the pressure gets "that" low you wouldn't have enough to make a full pass anyway. (edit: "that" low was refering to the nitrous not coming out of the bottle due to temp to low. NOT to his 1000psi comment which is "normal" bottle pressure)

After the "250 freeze shot" is when I got a warmer and a blanket..... WOW what a differance! spend the extra money for that if you are planing on spraying over 50hp and you will be glad you did.

Why waste all that $$ for Nitrous when C02 will work even better for a hell of a lot less money?

We use a 4lb lower and a 150 shot and a NOS digital progressive controller with good results. Have also played with some higher HP shots and ran real good. Our system was set up with a fogger nozzle going into the intake tube.(just like most set ups.

We are now curently installing the new NOSzle system. There are some issues with fuel delivery that we have encounterd with the NOSzle set up. Using the test port on the fuel rail ( a 1/16" npt fitting) to feed the solenoid it does not seem to be able to keep up with the volume of fuel needed to fill the lines ( fuel pressure is dropping to 15-18psi when the system is activated). We started out using one fuel solenoid, but in talking with NOS we went to 2 fuel solenoids, on feeding each set of NOSzles on each side of the motor. We are now currently working on a stand alone fuel system to try and keep up with the fuel requirements.

There are a few issues as to installing the NOSzles, they raise the fuel rails about 3/4 ", not a big problem on the passenger side, but a real pain in the butt on the driver side. Also getting to the fittings to change jets, looks like it will require removing the fuel rail/inlectors to get to the fittings on some of them. On the plus side, the additional height of the rail has made it a little easier to get to the plugs.

When completed the system will have the fuel & nitrous fed through the NOSzles and a seperate single nitrous fan nozzle in the intake to cool the charge.

Here is a pic of the original set up before we split the fuel system up with 2 solenoids and before the plumbing was complete

We have been working on this system for two weeks now, and hope to do some track testing this weekend.

Well did not many folks responded on this subject ,but I was needing the same info. I heard of someone speaking of a 3 stage set up . Would that be like ; First shot 50 , Second shot 50 , Third shot 50 ? Or maybe 75 or 100? I would think that would be cool that you dont hit your motor with 150 shot at once. I have a nitrous shop close by my house I could go ask them, but it will be awhile before its needed.I know nothing about nitrous except Don't Put It In A Stock Motor!
