Angry Gatorback slipping!

After seeing some discussion vaguely implying the use of a Goodyear Gatorback would improve S/C efficiency via limited slippage, I ran right out to www.autozone.com and ordered a Gatorback (P/N 4080675) which arrived in a few days.

I changed it myself in the garage and asked my local dealership to double-check my work the next day. They told me I'd done a good job (easier than changing a tire) and the tension was just right.

Oddly enough, I noticed the 4080675 seemed just 1 or 2 cm longer than the stock belt. Perhaps that contributes to an odd, chattering modulation I hear in the blower above 4000 RPM, and a loud, barking belt squeal from underhood sometimes during shifting. I'm putting the Motorcraft back on and test-driving the L this evening after the road dries off. Is the 4080675 the wrong size?

Cool

If you have stock pullies on your truck that belt is to big for your application, most of us use that size with a 4 or 5# lower! You need i believe #4080665 if you are running stock pullies.

Ich bin ein Amerikaner, geburt aus Puerto Rico - aber, ich kann spreche kleine, schlecht Deutsch. Es ist notwendig für das öl in mein BMW ersetzen.

(I am a Puerto Rican-born U.S. citizen, but I can speak a little awful German. It is necessary to do my own oil changes on my Bimmer.)

Cool BoodYear Gatorback belts

Wrong size belt. Your stock belt should be a 4080660. Your to long is why it's slipping.
