gas mileage

What is the mileage of the 2001-2002 lightnings?

Found a beautiful blue 02 that I am going to try to get.

I long for the days of my old 2000 Suburban LT 4x4. It got better mileage! Not quite as fun though...

DOOMSDAY,

I would have to say it's "smiles per gallon". If you're going to be that concerned with gas mileage, I would look for a different vehicle...

Welcome to the boards BTW

My 2002 with 3000 + miles on it seems to get about 14 mpg...highway commute at 60-70 mph.

Frankly, it get the same mileage as my '97 F150 4WD with a 4.6l engine. The only kicker is the add-in for premium fuel. Frankly, it's a wash.

Depends on how you drive

A LOT of it depends on how you drive. I average around 14 MPG the way I normally drive, but on vacation while making an honest effort for max economy that got up to 17.5. That's not by driving slow, just by trying to stay out of the boost as much as possible. The only thing: If you get one, I dare you to stay out of the boost That whine gets damn contagious

There are 2 things you shoulnd't worry about on your L:

what gas mileage youll get

how long your rear tires will last

If youre worried about either it's not the vehicle for you. If you want the blower to sing a little song at every stoplight you will be lucky to get 12 mpg

Cool

So far my best has been 17.9 and the worst was my first tank at 16.05 mpg. (1950 miles to date)

I drive like grandpa on the interstate at 70mph and do encounter some stop and go during rush hour.

I drive it daily to the tune of 100miles and am thoughtful about the fuel also.

But I gotta let er rip at least once a day

Fuel mileage optional

That's one of the wonderful things about these trucks. If you can drive them in a regular fashion you will get the fuel mileage of a regular F150. If you don't, . These things are Jekyll and Hyde on wheels. Their personality depends on your right foot

18mpg to Knoxville

Driving to Knoxville IA for the Sprint car Nationals I got 18mpg both ways. That was with the cruise set at 65-70mpt turning 2000 RPM's. I was ecstatic! I need to check it for around town driving. I know now that I've got my filter kit on there's no way I'll be getting good mileage. That huffer is LOUD!

I havent even bothered to check mine... if you are concerned about gas mileage then you had better pass on it, otherwise just drive it..

Either all of you are Light-Foots or I'm the only one getting screwed because I have never ever gotten better than maybe 11 or 12 MPG, ok I do mostly back road driving and there are a lot of lights and stop signs in my daily commute, but after putting 4,000 miles on my 02, I can honestly say every time I check, 9 to 11 MPG is my average.

And Quite Frankly Scharlet, I don't give a Dam, I'd settle for 5 MPG This L is Awesome

I feel the same way about mine...

just checked it once or twice to see how close the window sticker was. MPG was the last thing on my mind when I bought the truck. All this fun does come with a price though, I just make my checks payable to Goodyear Tires and Shell Oil
