Angry changing plugs and ran into a problem

I need help I'm changing the plugs in my 2000L and have seven of them done but I am having problems with the #8 plug. I can't seem to get the socket down far enough to crank the plug out. It seems to get about half way and hits something. I don't think anything fell in the hole, I even use the shopvac to suck it clean. Has anyone encountered similar problems. Do I need to get a thin wall socket? Any suggestions? Please help I stumped.

#8, the last on on the drivers side. I too have a 2000 Lightning. I too had trouble getting the spark plug socket on the plug. I had to grind down the outside diameter of the socket to get to fit.

I think the tooling tapped that hole a little crooked when the head was made.

still no luck

I ground the socket down to next to nothing and I still can't get it to fit. I've been at it about six hours now. Anybody else have any suggestions. I don't want to run on just seven new plugs.

I changed a set before and on #8 there was a black plastic cap that was under the plug wire, but over the plug. After I pulled the wire, I coudn't get the socket on, since that piece was stuck in the hole. I managed to pull it out with a long pair of needle nose pliers. Worth checking with a mirror and flashlight.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thats exactly what it was. I taped a piece of garden hose to my shop vac to suck it out once I used a screw driver to knock it loose.

thats odd, i wonder why just on number 8 that plastic thing is there? maybe its part of the spark plug wire that broke free, but only on number 8 on more than just one persons truck? that is weird Mike
