Do I need to change to Densos??? Help!

Have a look at my mods and tell me what you think. I have NGKTR5's right now and there is no pinging, no detonation etc. The truck is VERY strong (shifts hard in every gear, while getting a huge bark of the tires shifting into 2nd (Thanks Sal)). Let me know what you guys think. Again, I have NO problems right now so do I really need to change them??? Thanks for any opinions.

If your not having any problems there probably isnt a need to change them. Talk to your tuner. He's the one to tell you what plugs you need for your mods. Most trucks have either the NGK TR6's or Denso IT20/IT22's for 4 pounds of boost.

I have the Denso IT22's with a 4 pound lower pulley. When I changed from the stock plugs to the Denso's my idle smoothed out big time. My truck has been running great with them ever since (only 1000 miles on the plugs). My truck is not a daily driver so its hard for me to say what the Denso's would be like in everyday driving, but I'm sure there are lots of people on here who have that info.

Hope this helps,
Jason

If it aint broke don't fix it! I don't see any problems untill you go for a bigger pully.
Good luck

While just under a Hundred bucks for Denso's may seem excessive I feel you get a great plug. When I went from stock to Denso I noticed much stronger acceleration from 120 mph up. It just pulled so much harder. When I pulled my stock plugs they looked fine. This was at 20000 and I had run a chip n filter for those miles. I went to a 3" pulley and waited a few thousand before adding the Denso plugs. Took abot 3.5 hours for me to change them. Next time I thiink It will be easier. Anyhow Check out this very good spark link...http://www.centuryperformance.com/spark.htm
This is a denso comparison chart...for misfrie.

I think/know that Sal would recommend you go to a colder plug. The TR5s are almost too hot for stock boost and you have 4+ lbs extra. I bet he'd say "get at least TR6s or IT22s............."???

The IT20s work great for chip, 4lbs of boost and headers. Sal reccomended them for that setup to me. It works... TR5s will missfire at the higher rpms. Learned this the hardway when the headers were installed.

Get the 20s or 22s and forget about the bucks. They work and no misfire at low rpms like with the cold TR7s.
