I have no problem with someone helping out and warning of something that might damage their L. I do have a problem when they say "your idea is retarded...you should market that on eGay". And there is no need for name calling here ("newbie retard").

BfB, If I were to meet you at a car show or the like and I had a mod that you didn't approve of I'd like to see you say those things to my face.

Listen, if you can't handle the truth then why even post? Some of you post such ridiculous modifications that the majority of them could actually HURT the vehicle, if not help it at all. I'm not going to sit back and let some newbie retard new to mechanical work help someone to tear up or even worse, destroy their 35k investment. Nor am I going to watch someone invest money in things that do not work!
My question is how would this hurt anything? I guess cooler air hurts our motors now. If someone wants to hurt there vehicle that's there every right to. They paid for it, they can do as they please. Everyone is entitled to there opinions, but that doesn't make it right to basically tell them there a dumba$$ for even making a suggestion. And who are you to tell everyone what they can and can't post about there ideas? People didn't make things by just luck. It's called trial and error my friend. IF he/she wants to try something and it doesn't work, oh well. They learned it didn't work.

Personally, what is even more retarded is all the pansie-assed, let's be nice to each other; hold hands and sing come-by-yum; etc...
UMMMKKKK

I wouldn't have a problem telling you the truth, regardless of how I phrase it, it'll still be the truth!

Wasn't it you, 2ManyToys that once said:

Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics, you may win but your still retarded.
'nuff said.

Sure, if he/she wants to do it, that's fine, but let everyone here see and learn from his/her mistake, NOT make the mistake themselves.

It doesn't work, it won't work, and if it would have worked it would have been done YEARS ago and you'd see it on EVERY modified vehicle out there. Duh? or something.

How do you know it won't help? Have you tried it? How do you know no one has tried it. I guess the fans in front on our radiators are there for looks.

Lets say its 90 outside and no wind. You feel hot as hell. OK lets put a fan in front of you, I bet you feel cooler don't you even though its still 90 outside? But a fan bringing in ambient temp(outside air, which BTW is cooler than the under hood air) air to the airfilter just makes no sense at all.

Years ago wasn't it someone that once said the world was flat, only to find out it wasn't at all.

If this thread does not get back on-topic and the name-calling does not stop, it will be deleted, which may result in some practical and helpful information being removed. None of us wants to see that, so everyone please grow up just a little and knock off the name-calling.

As a fellow enthusiast stated: Effects of convective cooling caused by a big F150 punching a hole in the air is enough to negate any temperature differential between outside the engine compartment and inside.

Not to jank your analogy (I'll be honest here, I really wanted to ), but that really isn't a comparison to this.

Thats the thing, feel. If your in a hot room and put a fan in it, your still circulating the hot air around.

I missed most of this post but do remember seeing that he used a small electric fan from a pc case to try and bring cooler air in. It's always a good idea to bring in cooler air, but IMO that fan will not be able to draw enough cool air in for the engine to suck in and make a difference in performance, escpecially in the fender wall.

Probleminfected- Maybe on of those *electric supercharger* that you see for sale on ebay being used in some form of piping to bring cold air infront of the filter from outside may be more effective version of what your idea was. For example, take the PSP fast air system, and on one of the hoses leading under the filter place in one of those alleged 1psi blowers. Going at speed it probably won't help and may even hinder cooler airflow being forced through the hose to the filter, but at idle and lower speeds it would help suck cooler air in.

Just remember, this is how advances get made, you just gotta keep going back to the drawing board til you get your idea to work

Yes true about blowinf around hot air in the room. But his idea was to get cooler outside air into the filter. That was what I was going to post next but ya beat me to it.
