Question 99 and 00's can take more boost?

Hey guys, Is it just me or does it seem like the 99 and 00 trucks could handle alot more boost then the newer trucks? I remember people running upper and 6lb lower on those trucks forever with no problems. While the 01+ seem to throw a rod more often. Maybe I am crazy but did anyone else notice this? Thanks,Mike

Your going to give the 01-2 owners an inferiority complex or something

I have upgraded my 00 rods...and sold my old rods and pistons...in the name of higher boost dependibility.

I know of a 99 that threw several rods running a 3# pulley and a 75 shot, although that L had around 60k on the stock internals.

The 99-00's rods might be from a different vendor or a little more stout but eventually you will have an air conditioned block if your running 8#s or more of xtra boost imho.

A buddy at the track is running 6 lower and 2 upper on his '99 w/ no problems. He only has 16k miles on his truck, though.

Wonder if he informed the dealership of that when he traded it in

Had a 6lb lower on for 18K miles on my 01 with no issues??

TOTALED ran a 5-6lb lower and a 2lb upper last year with no problems onb his 01....

There is alot more to it than rods... The TUNE & other things can save you...
