Question Washers Installed, but still have clunk

Not a slam, so don't bring any B.S. to my post.

But I had herbs washers installed a few weeks ago at my local Ford "dealer" and while parking my truck last night, I heard a few clunks. I'm guessing it took this long becuase I usally don't turn the wheel full lock, but last night I has to, to avoid a 10 point turn...damn neighbors parking in the way! Anyways, my question is, what else should I be looking for that's making the clunk? Or should I check to see if the washers were installed correctly? Give me suggestions please!

Lube the steering stops. I had the washers and the cambolts installed with the M3000-L lowering kit and mine (both the 99 and 02) started doing it until I lubed them.

Sucks I know, but that will fix it (for a time)...

Thanks for the suggestions.

That's probably something I should have mentioned, the cam-bolt kit wasn't installed, don't ask me why they didn't put it in when I asked, but they didn't. And I was so fed up with having my truck there that I just took it and drove away..

Could this be causing a problem?

While its nice to have, the cam-bolt kit is only really needed if you drop the front so you can get enough camber back in the alignment.

All you need to do is lube the bump stops. It's (unfortunately) the fix for that particular "clunk"..It's not the same as the Herb's washers clunk. This should solve the problem for quite awhile, did mine...
hope this helps....JR

Do you mean steering stops? By bumps stops, I take that to mean the rubber things that stop suspension travel. I can't see them making the noise.

Mine is at the dealership now. I have the clunk and the mechanic(Eddie) who also has a 2nd gen. L claims lubing it will fix it as he did it to his own L. We'll see.

If after lubeing the steering stops, the noise continues, see if you can tighten the nut /bolt holding "herbs washers". if you can tighten it a little, either it was not tight enough, or the mechanic re-used the "one time only" nut. mine worked it's way loose, a couple of times, and gave me some slight clunk, until i bought a new nut.

SLVRLTNG, I thought that's what you meant.

Thanks,

Bob
