AC air blowing through Defroster Vents...Help!

AC air blowing through Defroster Vents...Help!
Hello All!
I just got back from my Route 66 trip We had a great time!
On the way, the Air cond system developed a problem and I hope somebody can tell me what might be wrong.
When pressing the throttle,(Dropping engine vacuum to zero...introducing Boost) all of the air flow switches from AC vents, to the defroster.
When letting off the gas, why, the Air comes back through the proper vents. Is this just a AC control panel going bad , or is there a vac hose loose somewhere, Reckon?
