Question Upper pulley tool

Does anyone have a picture of the tool used to change the upper supercharger pulley?

I have an array of pullers at my disposal and want to see if its more than a basic puller. If there's anything different maybe I can make it in the machine shop.

Thanks,
Jason

no,you want have a puller that will take it off.i think most people take the snoute off and press it off.i my self would buy a lower pulley and leave the top one alone.

Pulling the snout off only takes 5 minutes and 8oz. of S/C oil. But then again, I like to tear ***** apart...

You do not need to pull the snout off and have the pulley pulled. A pulley puller designed to work with the Eaton blower works great and I've done many blower pullies on Grand Prixs (M90 as opposed to M112).

Eaton M90 vs M112

Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall reading a post that said the M90 has a keyed blower shaft and that replacing a pulley is much easier on the M90 (IE: no bearing damage) and that the M112 needs a special tool that supports the bearing from the inside. Could be completely full of it, but I believe there is a post to that effect.

That is not true. The M90 has a pressed on pulley exactly like the M112. When you use the proper tool designed for the Eaton blower (and use it properly), bearing damage will not occur.

With the M90 Magnuson makes a replacement snout that you can put on, which uses a keyed pulley system for quick swaps. Not to be confused with the interchangeable pullies (DUB/Metco) which requires a hub to be pressed on the snout just like the stock pulley.

StruckBy99,

Here is an example of the pulley puller that is used for removal and replacement of the Eaton M90 snout pulleys.

Actually I perfer the tool sold/made by Thrasher.

www.thrasher-ep.com

The Trasher tool has a larger shaft bolt, and also a hole in the end of it with a rod so you can hold the assembly when you need to turn the nut.

When using pulley puller, always remember to use a ton of antiseize on the shaft bolt. I also apply a tiny bit on the inside of the pulley to to ease installation/removal. Also very important to make sure the stud at the end of the shaft bolt threaded and snug all the way into the snout.
