Hey guys, I noticed today that after I floored the gas, that there was a big cloud of dark smoke behind me. I know that these engines are tuned to run rich, but is it normal for the engine to run that rich during WOT off the line? I thought it was kind of funny, but my sense of humor has been wacked all day long.

 

Uh........maybe it was your tires hazing a "tad"

JK......actually yes they do run that rich. I have followed fellow L owners before and when they "get on it" there is a lot of carbon from the tips.

I got a lot of smoke from the passenger side while on road courses. It was tranny fluid leaking onto the exhaust.

 

When I did my last dyno, the right rear 1/4 panel had black 'drops' all over it. Also startled the dyno operator . I asked Sal about it and he said not to worry. My a/f ratios were 'rich' at 11.2 to 1.
