Never let cops search your car voluntarily.

He pulled you over for the tint because he obviously wanted to have a look around. They have no "right" to do that, unless they see/smell something specific. But if they ask nicely, and you say yes, you're screwed.

If they want a bust, make 'em work for it.

Bummer

Lightning's don't have squat for good stash places do they!

I'm all for living YOUR OWN life, on your own time -but when you're sharing the road with others....you gotta play by the rules. Leave that stuff at home.

Actually, that depends on your state... the new laws in my state, they don't have to ask.

Of course, with the "Patriot Act of 2001", passed after the attacks, they could arrest you for jay-walking through you in jail by just labeling you as domestic terrorist...sure you'd get out, but you'd be in there a bit anyway.

The Patriot Act is kind of scarey, lots of extra stuff tacked onto it besides terror bill things...the new eavesdropping laws are a little scarey, and the mass of computer intrusion laws its nuts.

several things...

Without commenting on the controlled dangerous substance's appropriateness, it's total lack of appropriateness in your vehicle is another matter. I don't care what you do in the confines of your home, I do on public highways.

You shouldn't have consented to the search. the US Supreme court has routinely held that without a reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, they may not legally search. Unless there was - an odor of pot, paraphenalia or CDS in plain view, you gave up your rights, and have no basis now to realisitcally fight the charge. The ACLU has a nifty bit of info on what your rights are on the side of the road, it's on their site.

IIRC, the courts have held that ~20 minutes or so is a 'reasonable' detainment by LE without charging you, IF you assert your rights by requesting permission to leave...

Alcohol has the potential to create havoc when mixed with otherwise decent people. ( People+ alcohol ) + operating a (vehicle | heavy equipment | firearm) = high risk to everyone else around you.

Yeah, the tint ticket sucked, but the other stuff sucks worse...

Thumbs up

since the same sobriety tests do not work for pot, officers now carry a small starting tree to gauge your r/t. anything over a 3.00 sec r/t is considered impared. some have stared at the "pretty colors" for like a few minutes ,or something

1 word explains it all.... eee-deee-otttt! I don't think age has anything to do with it. Im 16 and drive and L, yet, I can make all the right choices I need to. That is just lack of common sense, and quite a bit of stupidity to me. I know plenty of kids my age who are better choice makers than tons of idiots I see driving the roads daily. If your gonna do the crime, your gonna pay the time. Quit your moaning and groaning, and do what others have said. Take it like a man. My .02$

You shouldnt have in it your car bro thats just not safe anyhow. I agree with you about the jane vs. booze thing though. I have never been so F'ed up on "weed" that I couldnt do anything I would normaly be able to do. I have however not been able to see strait, walk strait, or hold down food off of booze. It will be legal one day when all the stubborn old men are out of congress and the power seats in general. Sooner or later the old closed minded generation will be gone for good, along with their preconcieved ideals and 1950's way of rationalizing things they dont understand. Anybody seen "Reefer Madness?" same thing exists today...just on a lesser scale. It is getting better, but not by the looks at this thread though.. :o

just keep it at home like you know you should and problem = solved.
Ignore the people who obviously have you confused with a "crack head" or some other REAL DRUG USER. Most of them actually believe their own BS which actually comes from someone else to begin with. Think for your selves... at least dont push your ideals on anyone else.

Nope, didn't hurt a thing, except your spelling. Last I heard, 'strait' is an open area in a bay, whereas I think you meant 'straight'. Nope, haven't hurt any brain cells, nope, nope, nope, good golly gee wiz ....
