im not an expert -at all- but maybe..
theyre safer to run a higher shot cuz they have 20 less horsepower so like less stress on the engine i guess..
ive also seen some people say theyre stronger, i dunno.

It's pretty apparent that the 01-up rods Ford is using are not as strong as the 99-00s. Here on this board, we've seen one or two 99-00s kick a rod, and dozens of 01-02. I have no official reason I've been able to find, but I'd speculate that Ford may have gone to a new vendor to make rods for 01. This is not just a Lightning issue. Talking to my fellow Autologic Mustang tuners, I have been told that 01-up 4.6s are also kicking out rods around 450rwhp. Pre-01s are no problem, just like the Lightnings.
