It may not be of much importance Don, but the first 4 or 5 times I ran my 28 X 10 X 16 Hoosier drag slicks (CO-7 compound), which I have mounted on 10" outlaws, I was ready to throw them away and go back to the E/T streets. No matter what I did, short burnout, long burn out, no burnout, they simply went up in smoke everytime I launched. I tried 17#. 15#. 20#, and finally after installing tubes and screwing them to the rims, have settled on 12# of air. They now hook good and do not seem to be too squirrely on the top end. I am not running as much horsepower or torque as you, (I run about 11# on the auto meter at WOT)
but the truck still goes 12.80 at 107 to 108 at 1.85 sixty foot times.
It seems that it took them a long time to "cure". And the air pressure, at least in my case was curcial.

Question Don:

Will Hoosier(Silver_bolt said "Hoser" ) really take them back after you've used them?

Don I'm running M/T 28x13.50X15,s With tubes and screws. Last week went to track 10lbs. no problems(12.64@109.54) I think the tubes make the side walls firmer. Had the wife tape rears at launch, no spin and stable at end.(stock converter, best 60ft. 1.812) Well what ever. Hope this helps. Ed

Don, I have 28x15x11.5 Hoosiers. The only thing I noticed was that they get better with age. I run 17 lbs and have done 1.68 a couple of times and 1.7's frequently. I also had Et Streets. The Hoosiers are much stickier. Sometimes when Ive taken them off the truck at the end of the night they just like taffy. My advice, when you do your burnout go nuts and roast the hell out of em, they will be better after a few more runs.

Don,
Have someone check your passenger side on your burnout and see if the passenger side is spinning. The tires may be biting correctly but your rear diff is slipping with the increased bite. This will cause poor 60 ft times and make it appear that the tires aren,t hooking properly due to water being on the tire that didn't heat/burn properly. You may be spinning one tire off the line. Another tell tale is to check the amount of rubber on each of the sides of the truck after the burnout(s).

Just my 02 worth cause it happened to me
