Good looking job, Vinnie. I hope you torqued the valve body's bolts. You'll be blistering second gear now!

Dumb question time:

Does the 02 already have a deep pan? Just looked at mine, and it seems to be just as deep has the 4x4 pan (a little lower than the crossmember).

Nope the 02's have a regular pan just like all the rest. The 4x4 pan holds 2 more quarts and has a drain plug on the bottom.

I've a couple dumb questions, too.

Can you guys tell me what the line valve mod does? Yeah, the shifts are smoother but why?

I'm also a confused about the 4x4 tranny pan. It holds more fluid but then why is that better? Does the L have a tranny cooler? Does more fluid mean cooler tranny fluid and therefore a better working tranny?

I the line valve mod causes harder{not smoother} shifts by increasing the line pressure in the transmission. Harder{quicker} shiftes are better because the clutches do not slip as much and therfore causes less heat and wear.

The Factory Tech valve body does the same thing by using differant springs in the valve body.
The line valve mod puts more stress on the pump, therefore the FT valve body is a safer mod.

More fluid means cooler fluid because the same fluid doesnt circulate threw the trans as often.

Yes,L's do have trans fluid coolers.

My turn for a dumb question...

This is a general good thing to do to 4x2 ?

The reason I ask is I have thought about this, but have not started the research on it.

Thought b/c you have the thread going, I would just ask.

Thanks.

PS : Looks good with or without the stock exhst <g>

Your right Vinnie, you should have done it sooner. LOL Me too! Factory_ Tech is on the money with his set-up. I put the deep pan on also, but as a afterthought, I drained my torque convertor and filled with Amsoil syn. tran fluid. So be good to go for a loooong time
