Rich,

Pro-Glass makes a ****ional Cobra style hood and there's a cowl induction hood also in the works from them. I wasn't implying that everyone has to run out and buy a shaker hood but when quality is brought up, the Cervini's hood's just aren't as well made. I can tell you this because I've owned 3 Cervini's hood's over the last 6 years and all of them needed shimming on the hood supports and latches and on the '00 Lightning I had to bring the fenders in to narrow the gaps. The Pro Glass hood had none of these issues.

Here's my '99 & '00 trucks last year. Recognize the hoods ???

Again, I AM NOT trying to discourage anyone from buying any brand of hood, these are simply my experiences so take it for what it's worth.

Yeah, but look at the gaps between the hood and radiator support...(j/k).

The only aftermarket hood I have owned was the pro-glass.But what my body shop guys said(I have known them for years) is that it was the best hood with the least prep they have ever had and they have done a lot of cervinis. Also they were impressed with the packaging of the hood.AGAIN ,it is what the shop said. Not me.
I am not saying do not buy a cervini.I hope everybody buys the cervini hood. The reaction I get on the shaker is INCREDIBLE.Young and especially old like it.So I do not want to see one on every F-150.
BTW-Living in N.J. Cervinis hoods are at the swap meets and are easily accesible. So a lot of people I know have had cervini hoods on there vehicles and have been very happy .If I did not get this hood it would have been a cervini.
I do think we are splitting hairs here.

VINNIE

Paint the hood

Josh, for paint, try: Cervini's Auto Body@160 S. Mill Rd., Vineland. PH#856-692-6057. Nothing like keeping it all in the family.

My cervini's went on fine, it did need shimming at the rear though.
I have not seen any flex at high speeds or on uneven roads/bumps taken at speed.

I'd like to add another question to the list here.

Would I see any performance gains with a ram air hood and if so would I need to have it hooked up to the air box to see anything? I have a FIPK so there is no box to hook to unless I put the OEM back on. Thanks for any help.

You would need to fabricate duct work and an airbox to see any cold air to the filter with the cervinis hood. This is fairly easy to do if you have any fiberglass experience at all. If not find a good shop to do it for you if you want the cold air. Does it help? YES, colder air is always good. Will you be able to Feel the difference, probably not.

yeah, that's a dilema that i am running into now. Should i get an AF1 fipk now, and get the cervini's hood (going to order it in a few weeks)? OR, should i get the hood and wait for the functional kit to come out??? I'm not sure if the functional kit would be worth the wait and few extra ponies over a chrome AF1. Any suggestions??

thanks
