Lo-Jack
Lo-Jack
Anybody got one,or know of anyone that does?
Supposed to have a very high recovery rate.I have an opportunity to pick one up for $100.00.Retail is $595.00.
I also have the upgraded Ford Security system, with starter interrupt,motion/shock sensors. But everyone says if a pro wants they'll get it!
I live in a suburb in the Phoenix Metro area, and we are rated #1 [per capita] in vehicle thefts in the U.S.
Thanks for the input.

lojacks work very well. they can be disabled by some real pros, but its only a 32k truck. the people who can do that are boosting fine 100k+ cars, i believe its quite difficult. but they have a gps tracking system, and cop cars have systems that detects the signal, and points them where to go when it is stolen. i believe its in some police helicopters too. definatley worth the 100 dollars. plus, most all the time, it will be kids who grab it for joy rideing and such, and ofcourse stripping the car. thats why the lojack is good.
Sporkdevil, thanks for the input.I work for a Ford Dlr and we sell Lo-Jack.The Sales Rep. routinely drops of reports of recoveries,The recovery time is usually within an hour or two, with little or no damage.
I just wondered if anyone had any first hand experience.I guess for $100.00 I really can't go wrong.

Nope, no monitoring fee.
For the $100, I'd say go for it. I had one installed when I bought my truck. It's definitely a piece of mind to know it's in there.

We have Lo-Jack receievers in a few of our cruisers. I don't know of us actually using Lo-Jack to recover a stolen vehicle in many years. We have a BIG auto theft problem, but not the kind of cars that will have Lo-Jack--the 80's GM, Toyota's, and nearly any Dodge/Chrysler.
We have used Onstar several times already this year. To me, it would be a waste of money. The new F150's are hard to steal unless they get the keys. The PATS works quite well. Every new Ford that I have seen stolen, had the keys with it or it was loaned out to a "friend" that traded it for crack.

For $100 you can't go wrong. I have it and a friend of mine has it in his mustang.
A few months ago the mustang got stolen but a few hours later it was recovered with no damage...best part was not only was his car recovered but 2 other cars were found at that guys house as well.

Thought about it but...
I did not get one ( for normal retail ) due to what slapshot pointed out. I have yet to see a hack for getting aroundthe PATS.
Also I don't have a L, just a lowley SCREW, so I don't think I am the same target.
Am I missing somethig here ( about the PATS ), that it actually can be bypassed.
The alarm I can see for your wheels, mods, and a stereo if you upgraded the head unit.
I don't have an alarm, as the wave of cheap do-it-yourself versions that the ricers put on, always go off ( they could nto see a motion alarm if thier life depended on it ), and now in the metro area an alarm is just another white noise in the background along with Semis, traffic, jets etc.
People don't even look anymore around here, and if they did see something more so they don't want to get involved.

That's true I wouldn't want it back if it were all torn up.That's part of the appeal of the Lo-Jack. recovery time is usually within 1-2hrs.-But a lot of damage could be done in that amount of time.
From what I understand [out here anyway] The REAL thieves will steal a car and leave it parked in a deserted area for a few hrs. to let it "cool off' before they will take it to their chop shop.
As someone mentioned earlier their friend's car was recovered along with several others, due to Lo-Jack tracking his car.
Besides if I do lose it I may not be able to find another True Blue.
It is now OFFICIALLY the rarest color!LOL!
Maybe I'll check with Phoenix P.D. and see how many Lo-Jack related recoveries they are seeing...

i purposly did not get the one that had Lo-jac. my reason is because if my truck gets stolen, i DONT want it back. I would not want it to have to have it repaired just so i can get it back. i would want it how it is now, and if stolen then i would just want the insurance money for a new one.
