Angry Flaking caliper paint

I was out painting my calipers today and everything was going good. i go to put on the third coat(using spray paint by spraying it into a milk carton and then brushing it on) and the first two coats starts to flake off. has this happened to anybody else? what causes this? thanks for any info.

did you clean the calipers really well with brake cleaner or some other sort of cleaner?

Cool

HI!... Unless the primer your using is for VERY high temp useage, your paint will peel off anyway as soon as your calipers get hot. If your calipers have surface rust on them, then I would advise you to wire wheel them or at worst use a wire brush on them to remove as much of the surface rust as possible. Then clean the "TO BE" painted surfaces with "BRAKE KLEEN" and let totally evaporate. Then get yourself some very high heat paint like the ones designed for painting calipers or PLAST-COTE high heat engine enamel. Do several coats with a lot of drying time between coats.

It sounds like you let the first two coats dry too long and when you applied the third coat, the solvents in the third coat penetrated into the first two causing them to wrinkle.

Am I right?
