lost my mind? wtf going faster on slow setting

Hey guys I need some suggestions. I know I'll try and call JDM about this but here's the scoop:
1st run performance side of chip (toggle leaning towards two marks on side - side 2, opposite of the side with the slot in mounting per instructions)

90mm mass air, filter kit, switch JDM chip, 1350 ft above sea level
stock tires, no/little wheel spin

2.04 60ft
8.93 1/8
79.8 mph
11.57 1kft
91.72 mph
13.69 1/4
110.7 mph I don't think this is right I would think 105 ish is more
like it but they all read the same/similar
45 min later
run 2 performance side
2.06 60ft
8.91 1/8 et
80 mph
11.55 1kft
91.81 mph
13.67 1/4 et
110.7 mph

40 min later
RUN #3 LEAST PERFORMANCE SIDE = SIDE 1
2.01 60 ft
8.79 1/8 ety
80.89 mph
11.41 1kft
92.66
13.50 1/4 et
111.88 mph

45 min later
run #4 performance side = side2
2.04 60ft
8.92 1/8 et
79.74 mph
11.57 1kft
91.53 mph
13.69 1/4 et
110.45 mph

1.25 hours later = side 1
2.03 60ft
8.79 1/8 et
81.24 mph
11.39 1kft
93.1 mph
13.48 1/4 et
112.41 mph

40 min later = side 1 least modified program
2.06 60ft
13.49 1/4 mile et
112.47 mph

I can tell firmer shifts on side 2 the performance side, no detonation that I can detect and I listen for it.

I had a problem with another chip a few months ago, it kept cutting out on the highway, it would try and die once in awhile on the least performance side. I found that if I held the switch in one hand and pulled on the wires going to the switch, the motor would stall. I sent it back and JDM sent me this one promply. I haven't had problem with that at all now. But this has me a little puzzled. My old chip ran a 11.29 1000ft with a 2.15 60ft (1/4 mile lights weren't working last time)in similar temps it was about 10 degrees cooler. I would say my truck has a 13.2 in it with the old chip and a 2.0 sec 60 ft. I know this is long but I'm ranting ....

Groundstike,

I have the SAME problem ... and I even Dyno'ed it and
it has more HP on the "street" side. When I asked Jim
about it he said that the two programs were "temperature"
programs and not really Street and Track. In other words,
Cool and Hot ???

I dunno ... but I am gonna know ...

Let's keep in touch, OK?

Best I did again last night was a 13.06 with a 2.10
60 foot ... at 105.5

Also, I still seem to be "limited" or "governed" at
exactly 142 MPH. I thought the chip removed that
governer thing. And that is at 4200 RPM so I know
it's good for a few more !!! <grin>

I am gonna go look for the "II" on the swithxc to
see if maybe they put it in backwards. I am assuming
that flipped toward the drivers side is "street" and
to the passengers side is "track" ... But I dyno'ed
13 more HP and more torque on the STREET setting.

Question?

Are the computers (CUX2) in the 2002's totally different
from the earlier computers? Surely this is true, or the
other tuners would have a chip already instead of JDM
offering the only one. So I wonder if all the codes are
being taken into effect by my tune, or just some of them.

Anyone know what is setable in these chips? A/F,
shift points, governer speed, timing, detune at shifts
... what else?

In other words, I'm not looking for actual settings or
any "trade secrets" just trying to understand the
possibilities. I would think if one tuner figures out
a particular area that no one else can "tweak" they
would be all over the place talking about it. But it
seems that some just like to keep it a deep dark secret.

Hi SVT_KY,

JDM isn't the only company to have performance programs for those ABU2-code 2002 Lightnings, or for the 2002 Harley EKO1's, we've been providing them for quite some time now.

The 2002 Lightnings have come leaner than any other from the factory ('99's & '00's were pig-rich, 2001's leaner, then the 2002's leanest yet from the factory), so care has to be used in the tuning, especially at speed.

One thing that some may be experiencing with a couple of the JDM combinations is a reversed order as has been discussed, just reverse the wiring on the Flip CHip, that's what JDM does in some of their combos, so (and I'm only guessing here, I should emphasize!) perhaps the switch wiring just didn't get reversed?

Just FYI...................

Thanks Mike ...

I always heard you were a knowledge base of
info for this chip. So what do you think about my
earlier questions? Thanks in advance Mike!!!

To wit:

Also, I still seem to be "limited" or "governed" at
exactly 142 MPH. I thought the chip removed that
governer thing. And that is at 4200 RPM so I know
it's good for a few more !!! <grin>

Question?

Are the computers (CUX2) in the 2002's totally different
from the earlier computers? Surely this is true, or the
other tuners would have a chip already instead of JDM
offering the only one. (SuperChip) .. I heard that the
other chip makers were decoding the entire computer
and that they were haviung a tough time with it....
Lot's of changes

So I wonder if all the codes are being taken into
effect by my tune, or just some of them.

Anyone know what is setable in these chips?

A/F, shift points, governer speed, timing, detune at shifts
... what else?

Question G/S:

No flame but how could you get 110 mph??? And in the 13s??? My 01 L has never gotten above a 108.81 but it runs a 12.532(@108.31).

That's a great mph, but just wondering............

Btw, we ran at Jackson SC's dragway a few months ago and the left lane always showed a slower mph--for everyone??

I noted that. obviously the track mph is wrong. If my wiring is backwords than why does the firmest shifting occur on the supposedly performance side (which was the slowest side).

Well, I just crawled under the glove box and looked ... the
switch has white decals (lettering) on it and it looks like
a "1" on the drivers side and a "2" on the passaenger side.

While there I tried to visually inspect the chip, but it's duct taped
into the computer and doesn't look like there is anything
written on it.

Next step? Anyone? How can we determine which program
is on which side and which wy the switch goes ....

CLiff,

Unfortunatly it would prolly necessitate sending it back to JDM.

Per your computer question

The new computers are entirely differant than say mine which is the cux2, yours should be a ABU2 which i think was mentioned eariler.

What hasnt been mentioned is the limitations on the current 02' software.

Anyone want to delve into this one? I know one of hte reasons autologic hasn't come out with their software for the 02's is Mike will not release anything half hazard. Meaning if he can't get all the functionality out of the chip to create a safe desired tune (be it transmision shifts, spark advance, ect ect) he will not release it until its found.

The 142 mph isn't in the computer it has to do with the frontal area and aerodynamics of the truck. At least thats what i have been told.

Groundstrike. Do your time slips show the current temperature/humidity and barometer? That could account for the differances.
You might ahve been on the border line of where the eec adds timing for teh cooler temps...just a thought...

Everytime I look outside I am heartbroken. Hoping they get it done in the next few days or i'll have some parts overnighted in to get the stang running =) Granted its not the same as having a L around, but it'll blow the doors of the L sooo it'll be ok =)\

U just sitting on here waiting for me to post? =)
