? for the college/hs lightning drivers.

Man I want one really bad. If I were to sell my car, and I have some money saved up I am thinking I will have 17k. Therefore U would probably only take out a 7k loan and try to find a 23k lightning used.

How big of loan did you take out, and how much is your insurance? And is it easy for u to keep up for your payments?

Yeah see my parents wouldn't even think about helping me with a new car. So this car is all on my own money. I dont see it being hard for me to keep up with insurance for about 200$ a month, and 150$ a month for a 4 year loan if I work about 30 hours a week.

Sakino,
I know exactly how you feel about your parents not helping out. My parents are divorced and my mom pays for my school and everything else. I've tried to get my dad to help but he won't even consider it and he's a freekin' carsalesman so I'm sure he could find one somewhere. I guess I'm just going to have to wait 2 more years until I graduate.

I have paid for all my own stuff since I was 14 years old, and still do now to this day, haven't accepted nor been offered any money whatsoever from either of my parents or my family members, or my friends. Something to consider though,, I pay about $80 a month on insurance ( 22 with 2 points on lisence) and I pay about $100 to keep gas in the truck. IE i spend more on gas then i do on insurance,, keep this in mind when looking at your finances for the truck you are looking for.

I agree 100%.............when considering the purchase of a Lightning, you CANNOT simply consider monthly pymt plus insurance. You have to heavily consider GAS, and of course MODS...........you can go ahead and lie to yourself that you don't mind it being stock for a while, but after hanging out on this or any other similar site, and hearing all the 12 second stories, with relatively inexpensive mods, you're gonna get the MOD BUG...........just keep these things in mind.

Good Luck man........

Lightbulb

I had paid off a TransAm that I had before the L, I traded that in a little over a year ago and took a 10,000 loan out of my credit union.
I pay 200 a month in payments and 1200 every 6 months for insurance. Being a fulll time college student, I work about 30 hours a week during school. During the summer I get a second job and work about 65 hrs a week! Its just all about saving. I don't have much money for mods like some of these other guys but at least I get to drive a L.
I also do alot of side work with my dad in HVAC for his business, so he will occasionly give me gas money when i put in long days with him.
Its possible, you just can't be the typical college student, that I dispise, that does absolutely nothing, with no job and calls mommy and daddy everytime they need food or books or something....

same here toast! My payments are $350 a month, put 10k down, insurance $250 a month, gas about $80 a month. I am 19, going into my second year of college. It is really easy for me to make my patments, but I do not have a lot of extra money left over unless i work like 40 hours. I usually work like 25-30 hours, as a bartender, so I can still keep up with my payments.
