Smile Chip Questions...

After much debate and some help from fellow local "L" owners (thanks Dan!) I want to install a chip and #2 pulley.
I was leaning toward the Diablo Delta.

I was wondering if I could get some opinions about different manufacturers/ setups for the chip?

I know most people shy away from this subject because they don't want to get into a heated debate over who is the best, but I would really like to hear some opinions on setups and manufacturers.

I have a 2002 Lightning, with a JDM Boost ByPass Kit, a JDM 12" Cool Air Induction Kit, and Diablo Sport Chip. I Love the Diablo Chip, it added great all around performance and more Horse Power and Torque than any Chip I've seen out there. Like their saying goes "The Diablo Chip was engineered to raise hell"

First I want to say Ken Payne from Motor Haven is a pleasure to deal with, he's always there to answer any question and has no problem taking the chip back at any time to re-program it for NO CHARGE . I took mine out Friday and sent it back to have the a special modified program burned in to the Chip so the Lightning shifts every gear at 5700 RPM. It will also allow me to rev 6000 RPM during a burnout without hitting the Rev Limiter/Fuel Shut Off.
My Lightning now pins the Boost gauge at 10 lbs, even at 1/4 throttle. "And I have THE STOCK PULLY SYSTEM ON IT"

I will say this, after taken the chip out Friday to sent it back for a re-burn. The difference was extreme. I miss the 39 Horsepower, and 43 ft lbs of torque it gives BIG TIME. I also immediatly noticed the original stock mushy tranny shifts and also felt the torque convertor locking up way too quickly like a stock computer will do.
If your Listening Ken Payne, I MISS MY CHIP MAN :o) hurry back...

I don't know what everyone else has had, or actually tested.
I got a mild street performance from Superchip (flip chip stock/mild) and they promised me 25 RWHP.

I tested it myself, on a dyno. I got 8 HP and 10 more torque. I heard that I got a little low of a turn out from a 2nd gear pull. But there is no way it gave me 25 RWHP.

Just go by the same figure that I use to date the perfect woman.

Figure out HP:
(hp claimed/2)+7=actual HP

Age of your perfect woman:
(your age/2)+7= perfect age woman for you

Hi BaddKharma,

If you'd like to be able to spend some time going over this without getting a sales pitch, please feel free to give us a call. The most important thing in tuning your vehicle is that it be tuned properly and safely for it's modifications, use & fuel quality.

There are a number of important issues in specific areas in these Lightnings & their powertrain programs, so to be fully informed, I'd suggest giving us a call as part of your checking things out.

Best of luck whatever you decide!
