Talking Pulled my tranny all by MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ready to go get her fixed and all I have to say is DAMN that was hard to do! I made a adapter to fit my jack and I strapped that tranny up to it and pulled that pig last night by myself! The good news is that I'm getting really good at pulling trannies now. took me less then 4 hours from start to finish last night. not bad from jack stands by yourself if you ask me!

Hopefully I'll have her going next weekend now!

We will expect a full tech writeup with pics in case we want to bust our own *****. That thing probably weighs as much as a focus motor.

Found that a 14mm 1/4" drive socket makes it easier to get the 6 converter nuts off. 4' of extention for the bellhousing bolts(7). Removing pass. side tire allowed easier access to the upper starter bolt. R&R the tranny a couple of times now

Time for you guys to do like I did last week, go out an by a compressor and a few air ratchets!

I will christen them soon since I get to pull blower, intercooler tubing and all the rest of the crap on the front of my 96Z : just to change the optispark again.

Air tools are the only way to do it!

I don't see how you could remove the starter without taking the passenger tire and wheel well out. And maybe with a stock header you could get to that bolt, but with the long tubes and bassani headers your kinda screwed. Its easier to take the 10 minutes and unbolt the long tube.

the hardest part of this tranny was getting my mid pipe off that went from my drivers side converter to the x pipe!!! I'm going to have to get a new one made cause that piece got beat up pretty bad, HEEHEHHEHEHE! even with a mallet.

Road Rash hit the nail on the head. That was exactly what I ended up doing this past weekend when I changed my converter.
Except I got a 3/8 drive rachet w/14mm socket on the converter nuts by rotating them toward the passenger side of the truck. The top two starter bolts came off easy with a 12" extension, swivel, and 13mm socket through the passenger side wheel well.

forget that guys, I just cut a larger slot in the bell housing to get the bolts out allot easier and then I made a new piece to fit up there so its covered up. I can take the converter bolts off in about 5 minutes tops. Allot easier then that crappy little hole!

I'll take some pics of it for you.

yeah thats me, I don't like not knowing how to do something. When I go to the doctor I ask 20 questions about what he's doing and why he's doing it and what that tool is and what it does. No matter how old I get I just want to know everything and anything I can. Watching discovery channel is more fun to me then watching sports with the boys at the local bar! Although you would never know with my grammer and spelling. English was not my subject in school, HEHEHEHEHEHE. math, history and science are another story.
