warrenty work suggestion

got a letter about the wiper motor recall today. I bought my truck used and they said it was done, but apparently not. While it's in there, i'm gonna have them check the alignment and brake. I have under 7k miles and the brake have been squeaking since i had the truck. You think they will do anything for me on the brakes and alignment under warrenty. I've been told the alignments and brakes are covered under 10k. Also, should i put my stock air filter system back on or leave it? What's your thoughts.????

They should cover it unless they declare it "normal wear and tear". It doesn't sound like that's the case.

Make sure they look up your VIN in OASIS to check for any other work that should be done. Make sure your intercooler has been replaced with an '01 and have them take care of the front end clunk, if you have it. Have them look at the rear window rubber gasket around the window; mine was replaced for free.

My SVT techs at my dealer recommended putting in the K&N, upping the MAF to 90mm, and considering a chip. They didn't blink when I asked them about the warranty-no problem...I think it depends on the service dept. I'd ask them before you bring it in. He mentioned that some guys over-oil their K&N and it trashes out the MAF; they said to wipe out any oil, if any, from the filter box to the MAF before bringing it in.

Good Luck.

Take all mods (if any) off the truck. Dont leave yourself and open target. Alignment is cover under 12,000 miles. Most likely they wont replace the intercooler unless it is leaking so avoid and arguement with them and just drain half the overflow before you bring it in for service. Some dealers are "mod friendly" but for the most part they arent. Dont find out the hard way just remove the mods.

i already had the intercooler done. My question is should i bother stripping the stuff off for none engine related work. But since it's going in i'm gonna pull the intake and chip anyhow and send the chip for a reburn....so.....

Don't let the dealer see any mods. The Ford rep could stop by and void you for future repairs even if the dealership is cool with the mods.
Play it safe
