Question Cleaning Air Filter

I have had my JDM air filter for about 9 months. Seems a little dirty. Does anyone have any tips on cleaning it. I read you wash it with warm water, let dry and spray lightly with WD40. Does this sound right?

I dont have one but isnt it made by K&N? If so just use the K&N filter charger kit.

Pep Boys has the K&N filter cleaning kit.

You spray the cleaner on the filter, and rince the old oil out, from the inside out. Let it air dry and then re oil the filter after it is completely dry.

Thats actually very good advice, noosebleed. Common mistake is to over-oil these filters.A light uniform spray (not too close) is all that is needed.Too much..and your restricting airflow..and it doesn't go away until you re-wash it. A light "pink" color is fine.

You can almost eliminate the need to clean our air filters by getting an Outerwear 'sock' pre-filter. They are about $25 from PSP or JL. They make no measureable difference in 1/4 mile times--I've tried 'with' and 'without'--they work!

I was just conna say that too Dan. The pre filter does not even get dirty because it has no oil on it for dust/dirt to cling to. But if it does, the pre filter is a snap to clean.
