Guys, I wasn't begging or bragging about LS1s just the excellent post from Warren.

They win some times and some times we do--worthy competitors!

Dan,

I have the same feeling as you about this. If someone has a bad ride no matter what manufactuer, I appreciate it. We all have a need for speed and hopefully we control that need in a respectful manner and not enfdanger others.

Funny how "when we are at the track" the guys we run down here do not do too much brand bashing. Just a good time. Nothing better than to see someone get there best times no matter what they drive. Jerry with his WS6 is one hell of a guy and could not ask for a better competitor or advice giver. Fast is fast wheter it is bow tie, Ford or Rice.

I might get a ration from the board here, but I hope to own a ZO6 someday. Always wanted a vette.

Thanks for posting this thread.

Ron

My brother is the biggest fan of the Z06 out their, i love 'em too, i dont know how much you know about them, but if you do enough research on them you will be shocked by all the different gadgets those things have. They got most of the same stuff that is in BMW and Mercedez. It seems like its every day that my brother "discovers" some little gadget that the vette has that he didnt know of before. Plus, they are damn fast.

I am a big fan of anything that is fast. I almost bought a WS6 over the L, but I had owned an L and new the power they had. Tonight, I lost almost all respect for early model TA owner's. I was cruising down a local hwy when a mid 70's TA (primer colored) pulls up next to me. We rev and rev at each other and then we are about to get a red light. First, he cuts in front of me at the light, leaving no one next to us, he just wanted to be in front. At this point my girlfriend looks at me and says "Get his A$$". Light goes green, he nails it, I get into it and I am sniffing his bumper. Well, I have room to go, so I'm going to go around him, I punch it and proceed to get door to door with this punk and what does he do? He swirves into my lane, causing me to swirve into the emergency lane and hit the brakes. The moral here is, if you are going to loose, take it like a man, don't try and kill the other party involved. Or in other words, don't be a redneck, because this guy was the leader of the group. NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE ON THIS BOARD, I'm just a little ticked.

He was just PI$$ED cause you had a faster vehicle and Oh yeah you had paint on yours. That is a typical redneck from Memphis for ya. You should have let Amber threaten him, LOL. I know that I would have been scared, j/k.

Later

WarrenK - Nice post!!!! Glad you liked the Lightning, now get in an 01-02 that is modded and you'll like it even more!
Most of the LS1 guys Ive run around here are good people. We have lots of fun talkin' smack and racing. LOL! Ive only lost to one LS1 and that was a heavily modded 02 SS with a 125 shot of NOS! I was at his rear quarter panel till he hit the juice, then it got pretty ugly.......really quick! Im turning 12.2's with the Lightning and come to find out after we stopped and talked, he's turning 11.0's @ 126 on the juice! He had the time slips to prove it too. His best time on motor was 12.02 @ 116. Oh well, time for more mods I guess! LOL!

I have driven both stock and it would be very close. I pretty much agree wit hthe people who said the L would pull from a stop on the SS( al ldepends on the driver) but on the top end the SS pulls pretty well. But on the otherhand the L moves pretty damn well at higher speeds for being a pickup with next to no arodynamics(sp?) This one is a close race when they are both stock.

Thank you sir!
The L I drove was slightly modded with bolt-ons. Here are a few (forgive my descriptions, I'm not too familiar with L parts yet ):
12.6@109+
mono blade TB
Air raid intake
adjustable pulleys
Flip Chip (?)
12.1@?
N20 (small shot)

I didn't get to spray it but for the first time out, didn't need to and still got an ear-to-ear grin
