That was a good post and explains alot about you.

I always thought your handle was the choices given when pulled over.

I'd bet an "excessive fumes" charge would be more appropriate than an "excessive acceleration" charge on an 84 Z28. Or was that "excessive depreciation?" Just kidding!

Here in Fairfax we are very nice to the citizens, I write parking tickets because your neighbors call us. Please do not take it the wrong way, I know we do have Police officers that they will ticket you for chicken S$#@, but also if you do not give them a hard time, they will give you a warning. Only my 2 cents......

Hey Wengerda, are you a member of NVLOPE (I'm assuming you have a Gen 2 Lightning).

I would have to agree with you, but only to the 50% mark. I am ALWAYS super polite to any police officer. I never ever give attitude, never act suspicious, never do anything bad. I always refer to them as officer or sir, not anything derogatory.

Speaking very specifically about Fairfax:

Sometimes police officers are very nice to me in return, ticketing me or not. Occasionally they are not nice to me, and once again, let me reiterate for the crowd, I am so polite! I've had police officers call me names, accuse me of being a drug dealer/smuggler/you name it...

Of course, now that I've aged some, I've gotten to the point that I'll only tolerate bad behavior so much before I start asking for supervisors names and numbers. Since that, I haven't been pulled over, of course. (Because now I know I'd throw a total FITTY if I got really bad treatment.) Oh well...

Then again, maybe all the police in Fairfax County have suddenly become nice!?! Heh...

You know, it just seems to me...

that the reason speeding and "reckless behavior" laws are written is to protect citizens from scofflaws who lack the brains or responsibility to drive safely and according to prevailing conditions. The basic precept seemed to be that "speed kills" and that drag racing in front of a school building, for example, might not be wise, because someone might get hurt.

What frosts my nuts, however, is that law enforcement now seems to see these laws more as an income generating tool than as a device to protect us from irresponsible drivers. Hence, the laws have gotten vague and subjective. Another example would be the intersection cameras taking pictures of your plates and issuing a ticket on that basis.

At some point citizens are going to have to take back their rights and demand more specific and sensible laws, the interpretation of which is not subject to the whims of some cop having a bad day.

...and that's the name of that tune!

LOL...that comes AFTER I have written them 6 or 8 tickets and then STILL are running thier mouth!!!! That is the nice thing we call "discretion". If I cut you a break and don't arrest you, yet you continue to run your mouth, then the bracelets go on, and off to the big house with you. My record for tickets to a single person is 9. He had like 4 criminal violations, DUI, no insurance, ran a red light causing a crash, suspended DL, imptoper tag.......he went to jail. They were all 100% legit tickets too, he was just a mess.

Trust me, I don't take any of this personal. I just try to post honest facts, every situation and officer is different. I agree 100% that rinky dink town cops are well known for B.S. tickets. I have better things to do.

I'll jump back in

I totally agree with just about everything said, if the guy being yanked over is a tool then he should be treated as such. If you don't have the common sense to realize that

a) I am so hammered I can barely walk so getting in a car is a bad idea
b) Insurance is good and if you don't have it or can't afford it look at how much a lawsuit will cost you if you kill someone.
c) Tags/plates are the law, if you can't afford them then don't drive

If they can't figue it out then they should not be allowed to mix with the general population or even have kids, yep I said stupid people beget stupid children and the last thing the would needs is more slack jawed, bare foot, sloped forehead morons...

Ykies, I'll get down of my soapbox now.
