I been looking into getting a lightning, anyone think I can pick up a used lightning 01-02, with low miles for a good price? Probably for around 25k? I'm a college student, and will have 15k in a couple of weeks saved up, I was planning on putting away about 150$ a week, and probably will save up more than that over the next year. I think that will put me at about 25k. You think the insurance will rape me?
Any suggestions?

 

25K if you buy it from a private party, and get a good deal.
Insurance is reasonable. I spend more on gas than I do on insurance.

Most insurance companys rate Ls just like regular F150s,so insurance isnt bad at all.

You guys think 19 is to young for a lightning? I don't know the avg age of a lightning driver?
I guess I would like to be the fastest vehicle in the local area, and a lightning seems like the way to go I would only hit the drag strip, and never street race with this truck. I would probably be really careful around town, and not jump on the gas to save that gas. I just love the look of this truck.
But my goal is to find a nice lightning by next Summer and have a lot saved up.
If it wasnt modded out I would like to drop a bed liner in there, with a tonneau cover.
Chip, filter, and one hell of a sound system.
This would keep me happy for awhile, until I pay the loan off. Over time I am sure I would probably drop some mods in there.
But I am thinking the sound system, chip, filter, bed liner, and toanneau cover is going to cost me about 2k. So I will probably want to save up about 27k.

Well I been doing good, I dont think I have bought anything in about a month. I used to drop money on dvds, clothes, and games all the time. Now its been protein, food, gym pass, gas, and insurance.
So I cut it down a lot, and everything just goes right to the bank. I will keep this up and see where I am next year around this time. If I dont have enough a small 2-5k loan from my grandma wont kill. I probably could pay it off in a year or two.

 

Buy a house,, rent it out to people and make double that money in half the time. Plus if you live in the house with the renters it will keep them from messing it up too much.

Hey Sakino, I'm in the same spot you are-in college, trying to save money, but I play football so i can't have a job. College Sucks!! No money, no time, can't get the toys you want Just wait till your out of college and get a full time job. Plus the Lightning is just going to get better, wait 'till they release the Gen 3 L's in '04 or '05, I have a feeling that will be one bad *** truck(that's not to say the ones now aren't). Of course only time can tell. I've never seen anyone younger than around 25 in a L, how old are some of you? And how old were you when you got your L?
